Nope, still seriously breaks FFXIV lore. No Wyvern this game. Again, I'm still in support of perhaps having an optional Wyvern mount/companion ala chocobo. But how to fit it into FFXIV lore is going to be a barrier the writers have to get through.

Personally, I would just like to see better crit performance (higher crit damage and frequency, perhaps a piety mod on crits.)

Otherwise I'm fairly content with "a Lancer that jumps".

If there are Dragons in Final Fantasy 14, which I do believe there are. Then there are Wyverns.
As Wyverns, along with Great Wyrms, and Fire Lizards (sometimes argued Phoenixes) are all part of the Draconic family line.

I will admit that even if they are not "pets" that fight with you. If you could even just ride one as a mount, I would be a happy camper (which I know was very common by the time of Final Fantasy 4 as it is brought up and it was the Airships that replaced the Dragon/Wyvern Mounts).
Heck they could do it like the Chocobo System in FF11, where you get this egg, the egg hatches into a hatchling, you raise it up, until it is fully grown and becomes your mount. Thus having the Dragoon have a very close bond with their Dragon/Wyvern.

Or if I just wanted to be 'silly' and even stare at myself for suggesting this:
They could always have it where the Dragoon transforms into a Dragon/Wyvern for a short amount of time to get a massive boost to damage. (Divinity 2 anyone)

But long story short. I just like to see Dragons/Wyverns/Lizards that Breath Fire NOOOM, play a bigger part than just a mob you poke at with a sharp stick. Cause the idea of taming one just is fascinating to me (pff Minigame~)

Not arguing whether we should or shouldn't have a pet, but if the current lore states that DRG's power is derived from dragons, and I don't remember it saying it had to be a dead one, just that the one had "turned" and needed to be "put down" like my old dog after biting one too many people, wouldn't there be plenty of room here for people to have "befriended" dragons(wyverns and other types alike), and perhaps even trained some to fight along side them, or as mounts?

Don't forget the mounted thing is coming, get too many people saying "dragons can't be friendly, they are all evil" and we may well not get them ...

I see that you're only a 40 lnc and probably dragoon, therefore you definitely should quit now while you're ahead. We (Dragoons) derive power from Dragons, we can also tame a Drake if we so chose to.

Yoshida left the door wide open for a pet for Dragoons. Btw, LNC/DRG is already not as powerful as other DD (especially in terms of AoE) and it lacks a pet, so the Pet isn't the reason balance will or will not be bad, it's up to the battle team to properly balance it as a whole, which is why DRG in XI was one of the few melees that could actually solo things because of its pet wyvern. This was before /DNC.

Did you even do the Dragoon job quest? No? Okay. Do the dragoon job quest up to the final AF and then come back later and try again.

And to add to that a bit, DRG back in 04~06 was a desirable DD class until the changed TP gain mechanics on multi-hit WSs, Penta-Spam from a DRG w/ the +acc it had could, even while it's wyvern was dead and waiting on the crazy ass 2hr recast, hold it's own.

Sadly we've nothing like that kind of raw dmg output in this, while other jobs do, our dmg output is also hurt by the -acc WSs we were given. These things kind of scream, "Call wyvern" > Wyvern present buffs + Wyvern dmg output added to our own + Wyvern AoE breath attacks. Wouldn't that be nice?

I don't disagree with all the people that say DRG should be able to roll out w/o a wyvern in tow and still be a beast, just that since as is it can't a wyvern along side us (that doesn't die? it's HP are part of ours, while we're alive so is it) could fill some, if not all, of the gaps we have as a job.

Hrm... Actually from what I remember, ALL of the dragons are bad and when the ONE that grants you power (which, according to the lore, there should only be ONE Azure Dragoon and that is what the Dragoon Job is, remember that Ishgard calls their cavalry Dragoons and The Azure Dragoon is their hero with special powers) awakens, all of them awaken as well and wreck havok to Ishgard.

In fact there is even a great danger that comes with the power of the Azure Dragoon as shown in the last quest of the line.

lol guys, go replay the cutscene and read the journal log again, the dragoons in here defeat/kill evil dragons. The Azure Dragoon have some % of turning evil him/herself. And mostly all dragons are evil. Their dragon boss Nidhogg is evil! >: ( U want pet! go join Nidhogg! and we what was left come hunting you down like the evil dragon you are! >: (

Dragoon can be cool without having a dragon pet.

I just... I don't get why people think otherwise. It's just...
