As Krausus said, even a 10% nerf to ANY class is far too much. There are those among the MMORPG player base that play competitively, utilizing those parsers, and other methods to measure their DPS/DD output. There's no way to tell if the parsers will be able to add in a pet's DPS/DD output to the player and compare it against the other party members' numbers, or how much more complicated it may be to control your pet, whilst managing your combo positioning, avoiding fire on the ground, etc.

People keep posting their opinions on how a pet would make the DRG a unique class, however there were other classes that utilized the idea of pet control on a much better scale, e.g. BST/SMN. Personally, I find the whole Jump skill set to be more unique than having a pet. You don't see MRD/WAR flying out of the sky to impale you with their axes, do you?

It's a poor idea to develop a class, let people become accustomed to that class, and then completely rewrite it by throwing in some completely unnecessary mechanic such as a pet. Might as well make an entirely new class/job for this feature, not rework one already implemented.

Adding a pet to DRG, will not only offset the idea of making it unique, but it will more than likely upset the player base that has already taken a liking to the FFXIV version of DRG we know now.

(This is all just my personal view on the matter and shouldn't be taken to heart by those who can't see from someone else's perspective.)

If someone can't figure out how to add wyvern dmg to thier parser they should not have written the parser in the first place but left it to people that know how. It's just parsing more text from the chatlogs(chatlog memory space). Not brain surgery.

I said it before drg in XI was only gimped because you had no control, let it AA what we have engaged but give us [PUP/SMN/BST] style control over it's abilities. Yeah they died super easy to AoE but w/ a 15min recast on "Call Wyvern" it's not that big a deal if/when they die. If your pets dying every 5 minutes you should NOT be playing a pet job (exception HNMs/Raids where you should have had the foresight to call it well before so recast yould be up anyway).

A pet only nerfs you if you don't know how to work w/ one.

WoW pet controls could be a pain same w/ SW:ToR but setting your "mode" to assist made them somewhat more functional as they only attacked things after you were engaged. Which is a little nicer than having to macro a pet attack [target] type thing which can be a bit of a pain, tho useful for crowd control. Oh right pets holding your adds? Yep that was super useful and the way some pet jobs work best.

What we've only had these "advanced" jobs/specializations for a month? Reworking it for V2.0 isn't that bad a thing.

Sorry to have used your post as my point maker Krono it was just so spot on to what I was saying, just the opposite side of the same coin. ^^

That's true, but in the sense that pets stick w/ you and are not just a "summon 1hit" type thing, well only X and to some degree(but not really) XIII.

I do get where your going w/ that, traditionally in FF drg was a job that used dragon-like abilities in order to kill dragons, and for what it's worth I much prefered bst and pup to drg as jobs that had pets that "fit" but change isn't all bad. Drg w/ a pet doesn't have to suck and unless your a super hardcore RP'er basing his whole deal on past FF's ...
Wait every FF is a totally different game, no 2 take place in the same "world" or share stories or people(cept Cid Biggs and Wedge) why does this have to be the same as all the past games? And why can't I "morph" into an esper, Terra could do it?

Please do not point out X-2 or XIII-2 I'm well aware of them and much like FF Mystic Quest I've tried very hard to repress those memories, no not really, XIII-2 was a better game than XIII overall.

End of the day I really just want a pet job back and I can't see any "real" good reason to not give drg a wyvern again.
