In the official live letter part ii translation Yoshi-P described a compromise that I haven't seen mentioned here, but is relevant.

Close to the end, near the 1:18:31 timestamp, he mentions that he'd like the wyvern to appear and attack while the Dragoon is performing a Jump attack. This could neatly solve the issue of a Dragoon having nothing to do while jumping, as I presume one would have control of the wyvern during this time.

I read that as well, but the way I understood is is basically that there are wyvern looking effects or animations to certain abilities, if this is the case then I don't see how it makes any difference at all.
