    Dragoon = dragon slayer
    Wyvern = dragon
    Dragoon + Wyvern = Dead Wyvern

    It was a pet peeve of mine in 11, it didn't make sense to slay a dragon to unlock the job then take one as a pet.
    Besides, I would rather be a bad ass DD that's not dependent on some crappy little wyvern that just gets in the way of everyone's targeting and gets one shot on tougher fights and simply kills my over all damage.
    It's dragoon, if you want a pet, wait for Summoner or Beast Master to be added.

    /facepalm, talk about being shortsighted and oblivious to the possibility of change. You know, we aren't playing FFXI anymore, there is a possibility of improvement, and you are not going to be more of a dragon slayer than any other job even though you try to cross dress into some kind of dragon, I take it's fetish of some sort much like latex.

    I have to agree though it's FFXI and the only game I HOPE is the only one using the gimmick.

    First let me say I'm not for or against having a wyvern. I just want wanna play my favorite job in what ever form it takes, and I'll adapt to the changes such is my love for Dragoon. I how ever would like to point out that these arguments of the Dragoon (Dragon Knight) can't have wyvern because they dragon killers, only weakens your stance due to lack of knowledge of the dragoon lore over all. Go back and check it out. Though not present in the games; The lore was still put in place as Dragoon being a knight that raised, lived, rode upon, and fought along side dragons. If aDragoon did hunt a dragon it was of the evil verity, and having commune with dragons they had better understand on killing them.
    Once again NOT FOR OR AGAINST wyvern, but if your gonna use the lore to argue against it. Please use what SE set forth as the back story of the job, not generalized assumptions.
    Sorry but after seeing stuff like this posted in multiple threads, it started to drive me nuts. I love the job to much to see its back story rip apart. /Ducks and runs for cover.....please don"t kill me. 8D

    All I have ever seen mention of dragons and dragoons working together in FF lore is in a really early game before dragoon was playable and XI.
    And from a historical point Dragoons should use dragons (but dragons in this case are a type of firearm)

    The name Dragoon was used because of localization issues. The job originally goes by the name Dragon Knight, which it still does in its point of origin Japan; So real historical fact on the actual name Dragoon has no bearing on the lore set forth for Dragon Knight by SE. The fact is they have never changed the back ground lore on the job be it early games or to date hence the weak wyvern in ff11.

    Tell SE they're the ones that mixed it up in the first place.

    Wyverns are of the dragon kind, if you look it them up you will find almost all definitions to pretty much say the same thing. A winged two footed dragon cousin to the four legged dragon, making them dragon kind. Also learned while looking this up that cryptozoologists believe they exist, and that they are surviving pterosaurs from the age of dinosaurs. lmao
