    And this is bad game design, maybe not bad as per se, but at least lazy. I can see why they make the game like that though, do you remember ALL THE COMPLAINING because of 20 potency difference on AST healing spells? If they make healing spells weaker and raise the healing requirements, most parties would probably break apart.

    I don't find it bad or lazy, I find the players lazy for not adapting to it.

    They weren't only complaining about the 20 potency difference, they were complaining about how it was combined with the lack of healing options compared to both Scholar and White Mage.

    If you find it ok for healers to be measured by how much damage they do in a RPG game, you should probably review your role-playing game concepts.

    And YES, they were complaining about the potency -especifically- in many threads. And AST never had "lack of healing options", the only big problem was cards and that there were no gains for the party by bringing AST over the other two classes.

    I worded that improperly. Not a lack of healing options, just inferior.

    You do know that Dagger is mainly a Summoner and that the whole game runs around that characteristic of hers, right? And that her Trance command reflects that?
    The main healer in this game is Eiko, and no one measures her by her Summoning abilities (she only has 4 summons) but by her ability to buff different allies while Trance'd.

    Aside from that, I never said healers should be prohibited from DPSing. Since the first Final Fantasy, 'healers' (aka White Mages) had one of the best (if not THE best) damage spells in the game, Holy. Their were never judged by that but by how they could support the party with healing spells, buffs and barriers. Oh, and do I need to say that, in FFXIV, we totally lack Nul-spells and buffs and that we are extremely limited in the barrier section?
