    3.3 fisher stats?

So I finally got my fisher alt into hevansward. http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodest...acter/1417349/ (I could have sworn I loged her out as fisher.)

I know what I need to upgrade first, her iL70 2.55 armor. but what kind of stats should I be aiming for?

    Thanks

If you want to catch iLvl 210 Big Fish (The newest ones from Patch 3.3)

660 - 750 Gathering (Some Fisher have even more then that,) Some Big Fish are around 620-640 Gathering yet most of em require 660 Gathering.

Perception? To be honest... going for 530-550 should be fine.

Your Priority for Gearing up, if you do not really have the Gil for iLvl 170 / 195 Gear :

    iLv. 150 HQ Main Hand
iLvl 150 HQ Head/Chest/Gloves/Pants/Boots (Belt can be HQ iLvl 140)

    ILv. 140 HQ Necklace
    iLv. 120 HQ Earring
    iLv. 130 HQ Bracelet
    iLv. 110 HQ Ring (Left/Right)

You should atleast reach 600 GP (620 is fine, Precision Hook costs 85 GP, so you want to have that amount right back before the Fish bites as example) so meld Materia on your Accessories (Grade IV is fine), since Patience II is costly as hell...

If you do not aim to get the iLv. 195 Gatherer Gear (Which is expensive as hell right now), you can also try to get the iLvl 180 Blue Scrips Gear now and later upgrade them to iLvl 200, though you can't put Materia in them...

Already bought and pentamelded her the new blue rod. Gil isn't a problem as long as there is no overmelding Vs. She has the iL 170 belt, all other accessories are iL115 - 125. Max melded.

For MIN and BOT the upgraded blue scrip (formerly red scrip) chest is BiS. Same for fisher?

    Thanks for the numbers.

Oh, is there a collecting for fisher dummies guide anywhere?

BiS is the crafted i190 Ironworks gear, followed by the i200 augmented scrip gear. The Ironworks gear is shared among all DoL, while the i200 gear is tied to one DoL job.

Fishing for collectables is just using Collector's Glove while fishing at a spot that has collectable fish. For example, Illuminati Perch at the Thaliak River in the Dravanian Hinterlands.
Fish size = collectability rating, catching a 181.0 im Thaliak Caiman with Collector's Glove on will give you the option to obtain a Thaliak Caiman with a collectability rating of 1810.

I am MIN and BOT. The alt is fisher main and only gathering class. (Don't ask. But its from 1.xx.)

If a fish says "reducible" does that mean it is gatherable?

She is only at the Forelands so far.

If it's reducible that means you can use aetherial reduction on it (something new for gatherers added in HW) to turn it into usually crystals/ clusters and occasionally aethersand (of varying qualities -- though from fish I think it's usually waterborn aethersand or something). You only get aethersands from something with a very high collectibility rating, though I haven't done it on FSH yet. They're used for a few level 60 recipes, but I don't recall if they're worth much anymore.

EDIT: oh, also yes if something is reducible then you can definitely gather it. I'm not sure where you were looking at it or anything, but as I said reduction is something only gatherers can do on collectible items that they gathered.

to increase the quality you should use patience or patience 2 (if you have tons of GP). patience increases the HQ rating of the fish and all HQ fish are super big - and super big x 10 is a high collectible rating.

but patience reduces the chance to catch the fish, so you have to use powerfull or precision hookset. to know wich one you have to use you have to watch the animation and sound when the fish bites. there are 3 different animations. i would say small, middle and big. the small animation is quietly and the rod bends only a little bit. the middle animation, yeah, it's very middle xD i think it's the most used animation. the big animation is used for all the big fish and only a few other fish. it is very loud and the rod bends for around 90 degree.
just watch the animations while fishing and remember them, it can probably take a while.

you have to use the precision hookset only for the small animation and the powerfull hookset for the middle and the big one.

every type of fish will always have the same animation. the Illuminati Perch from the example will always have the middle animation, so you have to use powerfull hookset. the hooksets costs GP. that means if you try to catch an Illuminati Perch with a high collectible rating you should >not< use any hookset at the small or big animation. just let the fish eat the bait. this will save you GP and time (it takes a while to land the fish, if you just let him getting away you will have more tries within the duration of patience).

    Thanks everyone.

I upgraded all her armor and fishing rod to pentamelded ironworks. Current stats: gathering 766, perception 615, 656 GP. http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodest...acter/1417349/

Her accessories are good enough for right now I think.

I understand collectables and atherical reduction as MIN and BOT but its SO DIFFERENT as fisher.

Still looking for a collectable fishing for dummies guide.

For fishing is really simple. Just activate your "Collect" and use appropriate bait / lure on that fishing spot.

Fish size * 10 = Collectability rating. So use "Patience" and "Precision Hookset" (small tug) / "Powerful Hookset" (mid / legendary tug) for better collectability rating.
    Use "Patience"
