Id say if you can relate it to something XIV could benefit from or do its totally fine. But expect lots of hate for mentioning any other FF game because the non ff fans don't like it.

Only other FF game I have played is Final Fantasy XIII and XIII-2. I tried X but couldn't get into it.

It seems that you are free to talk about another FF game on this forum... only if it has some relevance or connection to FFXIV (such as possible crossovers with it or references to another FF game in FFXIV).

Threads talking about other FF games with no connection or mention of FFXIV have tended to be closed by the community team in the past though, so I'm going to probably say no, you cannot.

I wish you were joking but I've seen people in game get really upset over not getting a Final Fantasy reference if we were discussing it in Alliance chat in between boss fights *Crystal Tower flashbacks*.
