    Not sure. I am not sure I'd allow pings if I were SE since they can be abused, the again so can a lot of things. Simple pings might explain arrstatus.com, but not SE's own status screen.

    Never go by their own status page. It's not unusual for they to remain green even when there's acknowledged serious issues. The only time the status page is correct is during maintenance when they turn to red.
