Musashi?Never. There is no such thing as "proper" dual wielding. If you look historically - back when they actually used swords, axes, etc. to fight - nobody ever[*] used two weapons at once. When possible weapon+shield or (rarely) a 2h-weapon was much preferred.
[*] There is actually one well-known exception. The use of rapier+dagger was not uncommon during the renaissance, but that is just about the only historically documented occurence of using two weapons at once.
Kodachi are primarily dual.
Short swords+ bucklers,
Axe+shortsword,double axe,
Scimitars, katars,etc.
I think you only know about English weapon history and barely that.
Miyamoto Musashi is noted for having used two swords, yes. Noted, because it was quite unusual to do so.
Are they? Or rather - were they that back when they were used for real? Not a weapon I am really familiar with but if one is to believe Wikipedia it is not really known how it was used historically.Kodachi are primarily dual.
Bucklers are a type of shield. All sorts of one-handed weapons have been used together with shields.Short swords+ bucklers,
The katar, being a type of dagger, might sometimes have been used as an off-hand weapon - much like the main gauche in Europe.Axe+shortsword, double axe,
Scimitars, katars,etc.
The rest of those weapons were rarely if ever used in pairs as far as I can tell.
A bit more than that.I think you only know about English weapon history and barely that. While I wouldn't consider myself an expert, I do have better-than-average knowledge of historical European and Japanese weaponry.
But Musashi made an entire school for the practical application of dual wielding. We have written evience, scrolls depoctiing technique and kata, including the actual school that still exists.
