Duel wielding is extremely overrated.
Duel wielding is extremely overrated.
Challenge the weak to make them strong.
Meh, opinion's, just cause its fantasy doesn't mean duel wield is " le cool, awesome "
I am forever thankful Machinest is single handed gunner. Will I riot if some class [ like samurai ] be duel wielding a weapon? Not really, though i'm willing to bet some one will actually cry over it if they don't.
Challenge the weak to make them strong.
My blackmage doesn't feel special enough. I want to dual wield twin Dalamuds to bring down on my enemies every time i cast fire
Also as a Roe I feel like I should be entitled to pick up and dual wield lalafells

Musashi?Never. There is no such thing as "proper" dual wielding. If you look historically - back when they actually used swords, axes, etc. to fight - nobody ever[*] used two weapons at once. When possible weapon+shield or (rarely) a 2h-weapon was much preferred.
[*] There is actually one well-known exception. The use of rapier+dagger was not uncommon during the renaissance, but that is just about the only historically documented occurence of using two weapons at once.
Kodachi are primarily dual.
Short swords+ bucklers,
Axe+shortsword,double axe,
Scimitars, katars,etc.
I think you only know about English weapon history and barely that.

Miyamoto Musashi is noted for having used two swords, yes. Noted, because it was quite unusual to do so.
Are they? Or rather - were they that back when they were used for real? Not a weapon I am really familiar with but if one is to believe Wikipedia it is not really known how it was used historically.Kodachi are primarily dual.
Bucklers are a type of shield. All sorts of one-handed weapons have been used together with shields.Short swords+ bucklers,
The katar, being a type of dagger, might sometimes have been used as an off-hand weapon - much like the main gauche in Europe.Axe+shortsword, double axe,
Scimitars, katars,etc.
The rest of those weapons were rarely if ever used in pairs as far as I can tell.
A bit more than that.I think you only know about English weapon history and barely that. While I wouldn't consider myself an expert, I do have better-than-average knowledge of historical European and Japanese weaponry.
But Musashi made an entire school for the practical application of dual wielding. We have written evience, scrolls depoctiing technique and kata, including the actual school that still exists.
The biggest issue with making a "proper" dual wielding class that has its weapons split over 2 item slots is that it doubles the amount of farm time.
Imagine having to do the relic grind twice for one class, and having to suffer a major DPS drop because one relic is not the same ilvl as the other relic.
Imagine having to grind for 14 weeks for your weapons to be on the same ilvl, just so you do not suffer the DPS loss.
These kind of issues is why both Rogue/Ninja and Pugilist/Monk have their dual weapons in a single item slot. Otherwise those classes would be held back considerably harder then any other class. The only other option would be to cut down the farm time and double the drop rate just for those class's weapons so that they are "comparable". Though that can also create the issue of them drowning out other class gear drops, or getting geared up too fast making them the raider classes since they progress faster.

You know PLD doesn't have to retake the same quests to get the sword an shield, they get both from the end of one questThese kind of issues is why both Rogue/Ninja and Pugilist/Monk have their dual weapons in a single item slot. They said drop rate. Last I checked, quests don't drop rate things.

(Just in case the emoji wasn't enough... it was a jest.)
