    Latency question

    Hi all,

I am hoping someone can give me some advice, I am a Melbourne,AUS based player and I am trying to work out if it is worth while changing servers to decrease my latency.

I am currently on the Coeurl server and my computer is telling me the latency hovers around the 250-270 mark when on this server, I was advised I might experience less lag on a JP server so I created a character and latency was hovering around the 150-160 mark (just hanging around in Limsa Lominsa, no actual leveling testing done)

Now my question is, is it worth while changing servers to a JP one to decrease the latency by approx 100ish? will I see a noticeable difference?

Currently lag isnt a massive issue however I do notice occasionally ill be out of the AOE range on my computer but ill still get hit which in dungeons or raids can start to get frustrating.

Any advise for this Aussie player would be much appreciated!

    Thanks in advance,

I had a friend who was Australian. I believe she told me that Tonberry is considered the unofficial Australian server.

Though, I'm sure others would know more about this than I do. It is considered better to move to a data center that gives you the best connection possible and since you're in AUS it might not be a good idea to stay on a NA center.

You will likely see a noticeable difference, but mostly in heavily populated areas or content. Day to day solo content, you probably won't notice too big of a difference.
