Question concering low performance issue iwth 4790k and 7870 XL

I got a question concering performance issue wth 4790k and 7870 XL in 1080p high setting. When I was running High setting I am getting mainly 40 ish fps and I have to change my settling to mostly normal to get stable 60 fps 1080p. Is this normal? I am planning to get the new 1070 or the amd 480 and I am wondering if those card can run xiv at max setting 60 fps 1080p?

Your card is not enough for max settings.
If you get a gtx 1070 that will easily get you over 60 fps in ffxiv at max settings, probably in every game at 1080p actually.

Its not the CPU. I have a 4790k as well (paired with two GTX 770's in SLI) and easily get over 60fps on all, if not most games at 1080p. On FFXIV I get 115fps in Mist and around 70ish in Idylshire. And that's on max settings.

I agree that it is not the CPU. I have a 4790k and GTX 970 and on max settings 1080p I am usually around 110-120fps with an occasional dip down to 70-80 in high load areas.

Interesting, I through 970 is only around 50% better than 7870. Does XIV run better on nvidia hardware? I am debating on 480, which have around 970 performance or 1070, whihc appraoch titan.

Either of those cards is more than enough for 1080p60 in FFXIV.

Was the 2 gb memory on 7870 the limiting factor of the poor fps on high seeting?
