    DX11 constant crash. Win 10, FX8350, GTX970

I'm getting constant crashes within seconds of logging in using DX11 client. I have used the DX9 client with ZERO issues for a long time. I just recently resubbed to my account to check out DX11 changes. It logs me in to the world, but then crashes within a minute. Sometimes it crashes and restarts my computer completely, sometimes it crashes where I can only hear the music playing and I have to manually restart my machine. I also get the crash when running just the benchmark.

I have researched this issue a ton and it turns out it's a common issue possibly relating to AMD FX series chips?

This is on a fresh install of Windows 10 and the most recent drivers for my new GTX970.

    SYSTEM SPECS:
    AMD FX8350
    GTX 970
    16 gigs ram
    Windows 10 Pro 64bit

    Things I have tried:
    reinstalling the game
    rolling back drivers
installing to different hard drives (SSD and old HDD)
changing around settings in graphic options
setting NVidia profiles for this game

Again, DX9 works flawlessly. It's only an issue with DX11. Has anyone figured this out yet?

If your whole machine is crashing, check the Windows Event Viewer for information on the crash. Usually you'll be able to tell if it's a graphics driver lockup or something else.

Shouldn't this be posted in an AMD forum, as far as I Know SE don't make Chips

Funny. Though the point of this post was to see if anyone has figured out this common problem tons of people have been trying to dissect. I can't find any recent updates from people who were experiencing this issue. I have posted in other forums as well.

New nVIDIA drivers are unstable for FFXIV, latest driver that didn't crash was 364.72

Give it a try, don't forget to uninstall current drivers and reboot after you uninstall them.

Sorry to post again, i've posted the crashing issue to the GeForce forums along with crash details and was told it was caused by overlays (such as MSI Afterburner, SweetFX, ReShade etc).

Based on the amount of reddit posts and recent posts in this forum about crashes, most of them mention it started to happen with 3.3 however some mentioned also that the game doesn't crash with driver 364.72, i can confirm since i had GTX970 SLI and the game didn't crash once.

However now i have a GTX 1080 and i can't rollback to that driver since it doesn't support the GTX 1080.

I'm also suffering from crashes now, i assume something in 3.3 under certain configurations cause the crashes.

Do you use any overlays such as FRAPS, MSI Afterburner, GW, etc? Try to disable those and play the game, also try to run the game in DirectX 9 mode.

    It's happening to me too

    Started from 3.3, I'm also using a GTX 970 and Directx 11

Mostly happens when zoning (this can be teleport or simply loading in/out of an instance)

Tried reverting to the drivers suggested in this thread but it didn't help.

Also I'm not using any overlays or additional programs (no act, gw, sweetfx ecc)

For reference here are some other topics that talks about the issue :

    http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...t-and-teleport

    http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...stant-crashing

It seems the similarities are : Directx 11 Client, Nvidia Card 9x0 , Patch 3.3

    Please devs fix this :/

I have a AMD R290x card and have been having this issue for a long time. One of the earlier patches. Most of the time if you teleport or Alt-tab out the game freezes. Works fine in DX9 but all the issues come when using DX11. I have installed new drivers, old drivers, the moon, the sun, everything but I cannot get it to work correctly on DX11. Frustrating because I want to play on DX11
