is there a way to switch audio output without exiting the game?

ive found multiple programs that can do this for youtube and other games but none of them works on ff14 for some reason

Nope, stuck reloading it because this game doesn't check for or change audio devices outside of start-up. A pet peeve of mine that's not been addressed three years later.


Coincidentally whatever they use for FMV playback (intro videos, T12 clear video) does respect Windows' current default output device.

quick update. found this program called elgato sound capture that can change ff14 audio even in game. just set elgate as default device/default communiaction device

Ezra, I cannot thank you enough for this recommendation. This program has helped me to be able to listen to the game using my headset without having to reload the game consistently.
