Regarding racial/gender/name changes for 2.0

The options were terrible at launch.
the only reason i chose Elezen is because i thought they over all looked the best out of the entire system.
But new races and new options coming out and the game itself is essentially being remade then so should my character.

please let us completely remake our character.

I posted it in another thread, I'll post it here too... I support race/gender/appearance changing but not really the name changing. I have a Miqo'te I intend to convert into a male once the option's allowed, I already gave that character a male name from the start. Of course I'm also a RPer so I play that character as a male to begin with anyway... But still, race/gender/appearance change yes please! But only as a one-time deal. Use salons for the rest of it but allow us to do a total recustomization from the get-go.

As for lore stuff, they don't explain gender/faction changes in WoW do they? Dunno, I don't really play the game but I don't think they do. It's pretty much as if you've been that way all the time.

Name changes I'm all for.

What I am not for is this business about shortening them.

Now, shortening might work, but one of the things I happen to love about Final Fantasy XIV is the fact that by virtue of the forename/surname system, people don't have to bicker over getting particular names. At least, not nearly so much.

It is so, so wonderful being able to have the name I want to have. Do you realise how hard it is to secure the name Hana in most MMO's? Beside Forra she's one of my most important characters and it's horrid having to faff about with her name.

And that aside, there's something really, really nice about being in a world where there's a chance of meeting someone with a similar name to your own.

So yes. Yes to name changes, but for goodness' sake please protect the advantages of the forename/surname system in allowing it. Shortening sounds worryingly like it might impinge on that.

i just found out my last name doesnt mean exactly what i thought it did.
i thought it essentially meant was to be extraordinarily poisonous.
turns out its the scale of how poisonous something is.... this is a lame name that no one should have and i deserve the chance to change it once 2.0 hits.

i suport the name change along with the race/gender change lore is irelavent its more about having gender specifac names please dont shorten them ither i like the long names its pretty darn cool in my opinion

I, personnally, have no plans to change my race though I might want to improve my appearence. The part that concerns me is the potential name change. I have used the name Rizon since I first started playing FFXI 5 years ago. I have been through 2 server changes there and have been fortunate to be able to retain it. Friends of mine where not so fortunate. 1 had to change the name he had since Beta because a an unused mule already had it. I do not want to go through that here. I have been playing since release and one of the appealing aspects was the ability to import my name from FFXI. If they are going to shorten the names then they need to make arraignments to take care of the people who have been here since day 1.

If they are changing the name system then yes I would support the option to change it. But if the name system remains unaltered then there is no reason to allow people to change it unless it's through a separate channel and with a legitimate purpose and possibly a fee. A whole bunch of name changes will be more confusing to the majority of the player base, and the reason for people doing so being "I feel like it" doesn't justify such an action.

As far as race goes anyone should be able to recreate their appearance under the circumstances of new skins and quirks.

I am 100% for character race/name/gender change. Right now I play Roegadyn but I was torn when I first started this game, I started as a female Lalafell CNJ got it to 20 or so and then decided to play a Roegadyn Archer so I deleted that character. Sometimes I wish I had stuck with my original choice but now I will be able to have the option to change it down the road and I think that is pretty righteous.
