Thread: Regarding racial/gender/name changes for 2.0

The graphics engine will be new.

The character design system be new new.

We should be allowed to redesign our character from scratch. Name included.

on topic, i wonder if the new races yoshi wants to add will be in fo 2.0. i think i recall him saying they may come in an expansion pack but i dont really like the idea of new races popping out of nowhere even though im sure theyd come with some story line explaining why they have gone unnoticed for so long. Maybe the devastating events will bring forth the new races for 2.0 launch.

Don't be cautious Yoshi, just because some people say they don't want and won't use it doesn't mean no-one should be allowed to ever. Isn't FFXIV supposed to be a 'play it your way' game?

turns out its the scale of how poisonous something is.... this is a lame name that no one should have and i deserve the chance to change it once 2.0 hits.

Yes, well I'm in a similar boat too, and worse since what was supposed to imply emperor/empress turned out to just imply commander at best and prince/princess at worse. But I can still go along with what the implied meaning of the names I've created are, since the implication of a meaning is more important in a name than any realistic meaning.

Now with that said: 1. It is obvious we shouldn't want to see a male with the name Mary Sue, that's why I'm for it at all. 2. I am against it because unless SE creates a lockdown system of some sort that allows everyone on the server (as in Aion where I can find out someone named Bobjones changed his name to Johndoe) to see all name changes, there'll be people abusing it that have a bad rep. But also because chances are, the friend list system isn't going to be able to support a name-changing feature until AFTER the name change becomes available.

I want to understand why yoshi and/or the devs are looking back at their statements about the chance to entirely edit your character upon the start of 2.0 version. Is the personal lore so important to the community?

I keep reading all over the forum about people who truely wish to have that chance and I think I read about 1-2 people saying this chance shouldnt be given... so why are you trying to change our mind? Even if most of the people dont care about changing race/gender/name still they are not against it.

For the first time I see you changing cards on the board, taking back promises by trying to change our mind... if there's a "real" problem about character change just tell us the real reason.

Just to summarize:
-You promised character edit chance.
-Community said "hell yeah".
-You asked if we are sure.
-Community still says "hell yeah".

Now please hurry and tell us if we can still looking forward for the time we get that chance.
