Can you get Luminous Crystals if you don't have the quest accepted?

I'm in the middle of my last step for SCH (i240), around 110-240 progress but wanted to start the relic with the BLM, I don't want to cancel that progress with the SCH and apparenly I can't start the 3.0 relic quest with the BLM without cancelling my SCH current one. My question is, are luminous crystals like Atma in the sense it doesn't take any quest to get them drop? What are the requirements for these things to drop?

you need to pick up the quest : Soul Without Life

It's not like 2.0 were atmas drop when wearing the weapon, you can do the fates on whatever character with whatever weapon after you accepted the quest. (need to accept the quest as level 60), can grind fates after that with level 50+ characters (HW areas) for the crystals.


Now since you mentioned you are on the last step of your SCH relic, you'll be able to pick up the steps prior on any other job that's level 60. For example, you could run "Soul Without Life" on your BLM, Toughening Up (next quest) for example on lets say a brd, "Coming Into Its Own" on a war (just picked random jobs here), as long as you do not drop the quest "Finding Your Voice" on your scholar, or trying to accept that one on any other job, then you're good to go. Means you can actually parallel grind relics for different jobs, even so I wouldn't recommend it since it needs tons and tons of Poetics/Eso/Tokens but it would be possible.

Ok, just picked the quest Soul without Life with the DRK, it didn't let me do it with SCH or the BLM (with the SCH it is completed already and the BLM is at 56).If I understood this well I have to accept it with my DRK, gather the crystals, get the 2 nodes and then cancel the quest and reaccept it with my BLM once I'm 60?

No, so long as you have the Quest active in your Journal you can gather as many Crystals as you like, there isn't a unique cap on them. You could literally farm 99 if you wanted.

That's true, however if he want's to proceed with the next step "Toughening Up" on the BLM, then he would have to drop the Soul without Life quest on DRK and pick it back up on BLM. Crystals stay in your inventory regardless so it doesn't even matter. When grinding the fates, you can however take any character that's level 50+. You do not have to do it with your DRK or Scholar for example. Just make sure the quest is active or you will get no crystals
