I'll only talk about dps classes that I have at 60 since I don't wanna say anything about classes I don't know.

MNK seems pretty easy, just maintaining a few buffs and lots of positionals.

BRD is basically keeping up 2 DoTs and weaving in CD's. Getting procs for every crit is glorious. Rain of death on mobs is just.... <3

MCH is super simple. Most of the buffs line up perfectly. I feel like it surpasses BRD when it comes to single targets.

SMN was personally a bit too much for me lol. DoTing is your best friend - and so is your egi. Gotta learn how to micromanage quite a bit with this one.

All in all though, try them all out and see which one you enjoy the most

It adds up over time and also contributes to each Wildfire burst and stacks with other damage bonuses like Gauss Barrel, making it better than you'd think.

For example, I believe it multiplies with Gauss Barrel. Gauss Barrel give 30%, Hot Shot give 5%. If it was additive, yeah it's only a 5% increase. But when multiple it becomes 1.3 x 1.05 = 1.365, or a 36.5% increas (making Hot Shot more like a 6.5% increase instead of 5%.) The more multipliers you stack, the better it becomes.

Ninja is lowest of the melee but what it brings to groups is why it is so. Bard and Machinist still do well and bring most utility.
If you have lag mudra can still be an issue with Ninja even despite SE having said they rewrite the code.
Blm is very close to the top damage wise, just be prepared that if you use leylines, aoe attacks will be right there where you laid them, lol.
Smn has great aoe with dot yumminess.

The key diff for me is that hot shot and lead shot timers align with the cd for stun/silence shot. So i know when that cd is up i need to reapply hot and lead shot.

Keeping track of brd debuffs is more annoying unless you follow a rotation so you know when debuffs are about to fall or ur good at watching debuff timers.

The only thing i find tricky with mch is wildfire timing. If u dont know a boss rotation its a bit hard to time wildfire because if the boss becomes untargetable u can say goodbye to ur damage :/

This. It's a hidden ability: If Ley Lines is cast and Boss has AoE ability it will overlap Ley Lines every time it's cast.

The problem with BLM is that you have to master slide casting to do the end-game stuff. Or you just die. "BLM is being BLM and got hit by the AoE... again". BLM is the new Dragoon.

I'm currently loving Ninja, but being the only class you can literally fluff an ability is kinda terrible though. Failure should do something, besides putting a bunny over your head. (maybe speed up the cooldown?)

In terms of target dummy dmg:
    MNK > BLM > DRG
Also worth noting that SMN has the highest AoE dmg.

Keep in mind though that it doesn't always mean they will be in that order for every fight. Gear plays a big role and classes have their own set of issues they need to deal with to ensure high DPS.

Honestly, you'll be just fine picking a class that you enjoy playing. If you're only looking for numbers it would be helpful to know what kind of content you'll be using it for.

Agreed. Especially when mudra lag is at fault for the mess up.

As a bard main you start to have an internal timer for your dots. So even when the game bugs out and doesn't show your dots on the boss you can still keep them up all the time. It's not really much about watching your dot timers and more about figuring out where you will be when you need to refresh them in 18s, some for flaming arrow(do you pop it on CD or do you know the boss will be moved in the next 30s and thus waste a part of it). Each job has such issues to deal with in one way or another.

Yah i'm sure with practice you just know when to refresh it. I just couldnt get used to it and wasnt keen enough to keep practicing with it since I preferred MCH in the end.
