PLD highest DPS tank single target

I would aurgue that mitigation is nearly equal between the tanks , War and Drk both are used in MT positions and they do fine in the current meta. So again why must PLD be lowest single target and by Far lowest multi target tank dps???

Nobody knows why SE wants PLD to be so crap for multi-target dps. My guess would be that classes are balanced for 8-man parties where the other tank is more capable of aoe damage, and not for 4-man dungeons where the parties don't have that luxury. Just gotta deal with it and not run 4-man content on PLD if you want to be dps efficient.

As far as single target goes, you have to take into account the whole party composition. PLD is typically paired with MNK to keep up INT debuff against raid damage. DRK on the other hand can keep INT debuff up by themselves so they're usually paired with NIN. MNK has higher single target potential than NIN does, the difference is roughly equal to the dps difference between PLD and DRK. So looking at the bigger picture: PLD+MNK = DRK+NIN for single target DPS. In this sense PLD single target dps is perfectly in line with DRK. This is a crude example though, as Trick Attack is a ~2% raid dps increase on top of NIN's personal dps, but that's an issue with TA being strong, not PLD's personal dps being too low.

On top of this, PLD's shield blocks mitigate more auto-attack damage than regular parries overall, especially in the current meta where people avoid parry stat on purpose. While it doesn't make a huge difference for mechanical damage, it is a difference in the long run. As far as cooldowns go, all tanks are very balanced against mechanical damage and I don't see them being a justification for the DPS difference.
