If you tie the Wyvern directly to the Dragoon in terms of attack times, etc. Then there's no point of having the Wyvern there for anything than aesthetic reasons. And, as I said before that's absolutely pointless. Why would we even want something like that as it adds zero game-play value?

If you create wyvern specific moves from the dragoon, then you're essentially taking away from the dragoon's moveset itself. (If you're going to tie it directly to the Dragoon's motions, a Dragoon might as well just be doing it itself, it ceases to have any context of a pet class and you're just making more work for the animation department.)

I don't know, some of these half-baked ideas are really coming from left field here. You've gone from "Oh We're going to take 10% of a Dragoon's damage and tack it on a pet" to "We want a graphical extension of Dragoon."

It's horribly demeaning to the concept of both Dragoon and Wyvern.

You could have level 50 gear look exactly like level 1 gear. I mean, it's just the stats that matter, right? You could have all the characters look identical as well. It's just the stats that matter, right? You could have the mobs look like giant cubes no matter what they're really supposed to be. It's just the stats that matter, right?

Or maybe... looking cool actually has some value in itself?

Did you ever even stop to consider the casual player base? Not that I fall under that category, and personally, I have no intention of playing dragoon as a main; however, we both need to consider where people are coming from and why something as "important" as DPS just doesn't measure up to the prospect of "enhancing gameplay" from an aesthetic perspective. Seeing a little flying wyvern follow you around may make all the difference in the world to someone who enjoyed DRG in XI.

Why do you want to completely ostracize an entire group of people, simply because YOU don't like something, or b/c you believe that it MAY undermine the overall "effectiveness" of the class/job. Instead of whining about how big of a "failure" it would be, why don't you try to figure out ways to satisfy both parties....just as plenty of other ppl in here have done. While the names mean, essentially, the same thing: maybe a Dragon Knight could be a Lancer Pet class, and Dragoon could be the traditional FF-styled job.

Dragon Knight: "A Dragon's Knight" (fought, but never killed, and eventually "tamed" or befriended numerous dragons, and as a result they were given a young wyvern partner from which they draw and share power)

Dragoon: "A Master Dragon Killer" (killed numerous dragons and learned "special skills" as a result)

    Like jump. :3
No point in having it aside from aesthetic reasons, absolutely pointless. Why would people want it something that adds zero game-play value? Might be a good question to ask the jumpers.

Anyways.. I still don't see why wyvern pets couldn't be quested and optional. With people who don't obtain them not losing out on anything.
