Can you please be more explicit about what they did and why DRG continued to be overlooked? The last time I played, we were still capped at 75, if that explains anything.

If anything they should give Drg a wyvern to ride.
Screw chocobos I'm going to fly on my wyvern!

Dosen't seem to me like there needs to be a conflict.
If we can have Chocobos that can go into battle with us and Magick Armor mounts, why not Wyverns as another option?
Granted, it removes Wyverns as a Dragoon-specific thing, but those who want to keep with that theme from FFXI will have even more than what they had in the previously game, just at the cost of that being their mount as well.
More options are always better.

Tbh, i wouldn't want to swith a DPS's raw power to additional cuteness of a pet wyv. I personally prefer pet jobs as a pet jobs, with their own skills and abilities to work alone or in parties.
There was many uses for a drg in XI, while BST's were considered mostly as a solo class, or a class that had their own (if only a few) special uses. I often saw a DRG being selected over BST in exp parties, which made me kinda sad, knowing how much potential and versatility a BST had as a DD. A DRG was capable of going as a /mage or /dd, depending on the situation or need. BST with his charisma build was considered somewhat of a burden, rather than an asset. Of course BST could have gone pretty much any /dd and use pot pets, but that's a different story.
Do note however, i'm talking out of my own perspective on this, and i left Vana'diel before the level cap was raised above 75, so i'm not aware of any possible adjustments made since then.
That being said, i'd personally like to see more use for a dedicated pet job -like SMN and a BST-, rather than seeing a close-combat DD turned into a hybrid of a melee and a pet job.
No wyvern pet please. I'd prefer the Dragoon to be a powerhouse on its own. Why give up a portion of your damaging abilities to have some cute pet by your side? No.

Ick, no thank you.
I chose Lancer because I wanted to wield spears, not to have to rely on some lizard following me about and having to deal with it in battle. I'd not be comfortable having to use one, nor with having to deal with the disadvantages of not using one should it be implemented - though believe me, I'd probably avoid it like the plague if at all possible in the event it were implemented. And that's putting aside concerns about the fact that in terms of setting, it's all but insane.
I'm already a tad bit discomfited by the idea of having to use breath attacks, but at least those have some flicker of traditional and thematic justification.

I'd rather not.
