SCH/SMN definitely need to be separated unless it's pet interaction. If they had to be the same, I would hope it was something more than writing in their book because we have that already in the victory pose, I would not mind at all manipulating aether like the other casters, with our unique (and otherwise hard to see) spinning geometric casting animation (for ruin).

The only reason I suggested a similar action for the tanks was because I was concerned about weapon sizes and how some idle animations might look on our characters with different weapons/armor. While SE can probably make it work ideally we want our current weapon to be used. But someone did suggest axe sharpening for Warrior that sounds cool. Maybe Paladins can practice fighting and Dark Knights can do some magicey thingy? Maybe?
The main reason I said for Sch/Smn to have the same animation is because similar to all other poses in the game, the pose will probably be linked to the class not the job specifically, but I agree having seperate one would be nice.
I like helping people with their Job ideas, it's fun to help them visuallize and create the job they'd like to play most. Plus I make my own too, I'll post them eventually.
For Dark Knights you could have it so that the Dark Knight's "shadow" slides out of their back and the two sides of the character stand back to back like they did during the ending cutscene of the level 50 Dark Knight quest. As if communing with their dark side. The only reason I suggested a similar action for the tanks was because I was concerned about weapon sizes and how some idle animations might look on our characters with different weapons/armor. I'll +1 this for a fun add on. I'd love to idle shuffling cards as an AST or playing with strands of aether as a WHM.

If this is really up I would play Bard all day
Like to see some cool moves for dragoon like spinning of their spears and stabbing.
Jewels of the Sun
Tears of the Moon
Heart of the Sea
Anything that actually required the class to interact with a object like their weapon would be broken on many models making it unfeasable. The class specific animations would require animation specific objects or no object at all due to the nature of how this game handles it's characters and animations.
not saying that it wouldn't be amazing to see, just being realistic.
The same would go for anything that interacts with any sort of character derived object due to clipping and not wanting to make emotes representative of the origin race (Again workload and the developers don't want that) the animations will probably always be pretty basic/bland to prevent clipping or model specific goofs (Miquote /doze anyone?) and any unique animations will be very specific to that motion. Like let's say a bard winds up getting a harp animation while idle it wont be the bow it would more likely be a throwaway model of a harp that any race would have no issue using.
I'd love more of these, especially ones that made me look alive. The NPCs have so many we could use.
Like checking/counting things (looots of NPCs doing that)
Waving hands while talking animatedly (again, lots of NPCs doing that. I'd love to use it while discussing in roleplay)
Eating/drinking (again, lots of NPCs doing that. I've seen Miqo'tes munching on bread while standing, and roes drinking from mugs while sitting, we could use both)
Checking the map, or some unfolded roll in our hands anyway
Keeping on the lookout (this is a pose we can give to our Outdoor retainer already)
Waving one hand to fan ourselves ("it's so hot!"), seen in Thanalan, and rubbing hands ("so cold!"), seen a lot in Coerthas.
There's just so many!
EDIT: Also, I'd love some idle animations for mounts. It's kind of silly that when they're in Companion mode, chocobos can look around, but when we mount them, they stare straight ahead like robots. An idle animation for all mounts would be good (even the robot ones)!
