Two Accounts on One Game

I've recently posted something similar and everyone was really helpfull however, I've encoutered a new problem. The basic gist is; I've been playing for a few years and now my wife wants to play. So we've set up an additional SE account and all that, expecting to pay another sub fee, but when you go to register the game it wants a product code (as in the one when you first purchase the game).

Its all going to be played on the same PC, but later on I'm thinking of getting a PS4 so there is potential we can play together rather than individually (her just using 1 of my 8 characters on my account)

I'm starting to think its not possible and gives SE a chance to grab some more cash but its a pretty retarded move because I don't know how many people/families would buy multiple copies of the same game, when the purchase is really to download the content and thats about it.

Help would be appreciated as SE have a super slow email response time.

Nope, you have to buy the game again. Each Account required a game license. Also, if you bought a PC version, you cannot play that account on PS4 as well.

I would be up for buying the PS4 version because its on a different format or w/e but I'm quite shocked thats the case for the same format. I just think if a family of three kids wants to play and play together or w/e you have to buy the same game 3 times. Just seems a bit much but oh well...

In terms of PS4 all users must have a separate PS4 and PSN because FFXIV is tied - and only tried to - the original owner and account. So in order for 3 kids, a father, and mother to play together *separately*, you would need 4 PS4s and a PC. Or just separate systems for everything. Separate accounts and payments as well.

My girlfriend, once we get married, is going to play FFXIV as well. However I want her to be able to get all of my free items that I entered product codes for. She will make a character on my account (I'm Legacy, so I can make 40 characters if I want to; I have 7 characters on Excalibur, so she can make the 8th character to play as) to get my bonuses, but she is also going to play with me by getting her own account for her new PC she wants to get later on. So in truth, she'll have one character on my account (to get the free items), but to play with me she will get her own account. I know there's a thing in the TOS about account sharing, but I'm not sure if there's a thing about spouses not being able to play separate characters on one account at a time. Meh.

The reason you buy multiple copies of the game is that the code they give = your account "key".

So really you're buying a code to play and the actual package and discs are extra.

And since Sony wants a chunk of the sales, they do the same thing. One PSN key per Square Enix account.

You can not log into 1 account more than once.

You can play a PC account on PS4 if you register a PS4 game key to your account. And vice versa.

It will allow you to play the game on either PC or PS4 with that account, but you should be aware that expansions are exclusive too.
Buying Heavensward for PC does not unlock Heavensward for PS4. If you want to play on both PC and PS4, you need to buy Heavensward twice.

You can use multiple accounts on 1 PS4, you simply log in with with another user.

When you "purchase" an MMO... ANY MMO. You are not purchasing the game. You are purchasing a service account. Anyone can download FFXIV, but you have to have a valid service account to play it. This is not unlike any other MMO whether it is a subscription based game like XIV or WoW, or a buy to play game such as Guild Wars 2, Black Desert or Elder Scrolls or even a Free to Play game such as Blade & Soul. You purchase the account, you do not purchase the game. So in order to have 3 kids play the game at the same time, you will need 3 accounts. If you want to use the service together with your significant other you must both have service accounts. This is the same across the entire marketplace. This is both a fundamental bottom-line financial requirement as well as an in-game economic requirement.

I will admit that I truly wish that SE would go back to the way XI worked (buy it on console, login on anything). But that ship saled with Sony's requirements and SE's need to make money on the product.

All of this is account sharing... even "spouses playing with another character" you're still sharing the SERVICE account.
So, it's not allowed.

Not to mention you won't be able to play at the same time so what's the point? Even if you have the PC and PS license, the game only allows for one login per account at a time? There's no point in sharing.

This has always been this way even in FFXI (to certain point) if player A wanted to play XI on PS2 they buy the game and register the key only thing different with XI then with XIV is you could just borrow the PC discs from a friend and then log into your account on PC without having to buy the game again. This is not the case with XIV player A account needs to buy a key for each system they want to play on. Now where XI and XIV are the same is if player B wants to play they can't borrow player As disc and install and just play (just setting up a sub) they would have to buy the game also to get the key as well as buy the game (key) again for each system they want to play on.
