basically we all know about it from back in the day when it actually matter for our class progression, but in the future, what will make a new player go to this particular place looking for story? Gear is mostly disposable, and not going to be that memorable, at 20 30 and 36 (maybe the 36) exp is something that will happen anyway.

Before the quest was a milestone, as well as progression and story, now it will be just another quest which most people ignore, unless they can come up with a really good incentive.

    gil worthless
    gear is basically gil
exp would be good, if its a large amount, but by the time people realize they have the quest available, they will most likely have passed that level.

In our ul dah centric world, how many archers would visit gridania if the quest was unecessary, how many new lancers would even have heard of the wood wailers?

It's their own fault. I hang out in Grid all the time and am planning on leveling all the Grid classes as I go.

Gear could be class-specific and very good. It could also be abilities that can't be unlocked by just leveling up. Once again, it can be anything.

abilities would be the best i think. but since he said you will get abilities from leveling, i dunno.

would have no problem with abilities, some really good gear might also be nice, but would anyone do it for a level 36 item? it would have to be something that can last awhile. after all, 36 doesnt last that long in terms of level time.

Simplest solution: Convert the current class guilds into job guilds, and since jobs progress and gain abilities through questing... you still have a similar mechanic. That way we get rid of (useless without guild marks) class guilds, but still use the space in a similar fashion. In fact, there would be very easy lore explanations for this as well.

Yes, what about DoH/DoL? We don't have Jobs.

I completely agree, and I'd like to add that I would like the dev team to look at similar elements of the game system that people have played with for over a year as something more than just something to throw out.

Well, new recipes don't require any of the guild point abilities, so really there's no use for them as-is, aside from facilities.

I would rather abilities both class and job ones be obtainable through complex and interesting quest chains more than buying them with guildmarks.

We already know that Job classes will be done this way, I can only hope they have plans to add class abilities like this also.

I wouldn't mind gear, since it takes so long to level the DoH/DoL. Though honestly, I would find it nice if there was some quest closer to the cap, which might be useful at 50
