Honestly are there really small rocks and obststacles that you cannot run over or around now? If you think that jump is going to allow you to move faster or in a straight line, then you are wrong.

They definitley should allow you to turn off the animation and ban it from cities like chocobos.

It's sad to see them adding this to FF. It was more unique in not having the feature. It is not a standard that adds to gameplay.
I completely agree. The good new is that this isn't going to be added any time soon, so there is still a small chance of this not happening. If it still is then I hope they reconsider and think well how they are going to introduce this.
