    Perhaps so, but all the same, my point stands. Jumps as they are in many 'generic' MMORPGs - that is, bizarrely high and largely spam-able - are very distasteful and jarring as far as I'm concerned.

    On the other hand, that little video of Archeage illustrates a way of implementing jumping that I would not only tolerate, but get behind and actively support.

    Besides I'm afraid there was a point of reference - the texture-less mesh representing the ground was rather more than the character's own height below it's feet. But yes, I'm very glad the developers pointed out that they themselves see that present concept animation as unacceptable for deployment.

    i just watched the video.
    The jump is a tad high, but the animations so far look good and can only look better once completed.
    wtf is everyone crying over?
    and if you say WoW consider this- WoW players do front flips, back flips and spins when you jump, however this is a very basic jump.

    I don't think jumping is acceptable in its present state, however, if it is made to look more realistic, I would accept it.

    There is one thing I need to add: This is an alpha version, and most likely a prototype. They are testing it to see if it is workable or not. If not, it goes out the window.

    if they make the new maps require jump to get to some places, I'm up for this. if not, why even implement it?

    a lot of people prefer to jump over small obstacles rather than take the effort to walk around them. there is more effort involved in facing left or right then facing your desired direction again in comparison to just hitting the space bar.

    Okay then, Aion, WoW, Flyff, DCUO, Guild Wars, and many other MASSIVELY MULTIPLAYER online games have jump.

    Xenoblade has pretty much the same gameplay mechanics as any MMO, without actually being online. Keep crying though.

    I've never seen so many people nag and complain over them implementing a jump feature.

    "Can I have a feature to turn off jump so I don't see it spammed?" Really? And square is gonna cater this jump feature they are spending time implementing so YOU can't see it. Wow, people amaze me

    My only complaint with adding a jump feature is that while it is in most MMO's it is not in any of the main Final Fantasy titles. The dev's constantly stress that the game should have a FF feel to it, and this might detract from that a bit. I just hope that if they do add it that it won't make the game look cartoonish.
    On a side note I wonder how this will affect the jump ability of the dragoon?
