Perhaps so, but all the same, my point stands. Jumps as they are in many 'generic' MMORPGs - that is, bizarrely high and largely spam-able - are very distasteful and jarring as far as I'm concerned.
On the other hand, that little video of Archeage illustrates a way of implementing jumping that I would not only tolerate, but get behind and actively support.
Besides I'm afraid there was a point of reference - the texture-less mesh representing the ground was rather more than the character's own height below it's feet. But yes, I'm very glad the developers pointed out that they themselves see that present concept animation as unacceptable for deployment.
