Yeah before Feast came out (or maybe on the update with Feast? I dont remember) the potency of the nocturnal shields were halved iirc (anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong on how much it was nerfed by but it was definitely nerfed). They were much stronger before.
It looks like that was Patch 3.2:Yeah before Feast came out (or maybe on the update with Feast? They were much stronger before.
AST did get a slight buff in 3.3:The effect of Nocturnal Field will be halved in PvP areas.
edited with Thekk's correction
... but I don't know how that affects AST killability, since I spend my time chain-stunning them while relying on the DPS near me for the finish.Aspected Helios (aoe barrier)
Damage nullified by the magicked barrier erected when Nocturnal Sect is active has been increased from 100% to 120% of the amount of HP restored
Anecdotally though, if I'm with 1-2+ DPS that know what they're doing and I can keep the control up (CC not DR'd) the AST will melt before I can even run out of Stun DR.
If I'm with DPS that maybe aren't so experienced (putting it gently here) then yes, the AST will just slip through the CC and keep running in circles, but from my perspective that seems justified (we botched the kill).

The 120% buff was only for Aspected Helios (AoE) and not Aspected Benefit (single target) which remains at a 168.75 potency shield in PvP (67.5% of 250). Spamming only Aspected Benefit on yourself won't keep you alive long if the dps is anything decent, you'll need to stop and get some Benefic II out. One definitive advantage Astrologians have in PvP comes in the form of Lightspeed which lets them cast their bigger heals instantly. However, that only lasts for 10 seconds, or 15 if it is extended with Celestial Opposition, which is usually a good idea if you have people on you. It has a 2 mins 30 cooldown. There is also the chance that they have drawn a Bole, which slightly reduces damage taken.
In terms of pure healing output, White Mage has the upper hand, but it comes at a cost of mobility they lack compared to Astrologian. Scholars have their fairy and Lustrate, but really they could use some help at the moment.
