With the folks I run with to do maps, it is the map owner gets the loot since it was their map.
I'm happy doing this activity with my FC and LS mates and having a blast doing it.

We have it set up so that the map owner gets a priority on one item from the run, everything else is need. We do this often and has worked great for our Free Company I have seen other peoples rules etc but that's why I refuse to do maps outside of our FC.
The other day I got 3 bunnys on my run plus other lesser minions, gil, materia etc, I reserved 1st bunny the rest of my FC needed on every item we had a full clear. I think it is just greedy to keep all the stuff to yourself, hell me and 1 other supply the majority of the maps I either purchase them for the group or farm some.

For the same reason PrimalEx farm parties have Lootmaster, pick 1 rules. Its to mitigate bullshit unshielded RnG that this game loves.

Why would I spend my time to do a map if I don't get anything but a few scraps? Me and my fc/ls mates always do a everyone need system. Otherwise why spend your time on helping me open my map?

In my English LS on my server, we never do "owner only can roll need" because currently what we need is the Gil on 7th chamber lol.
which is why everyone brings the same amount of map.
so if someone asks "Why would I spend my time to do a map if I don't get anything but a few scraps?" We answer because you get others to help you do your maps.

I must be weird for thinking that the Aquapolis gives more than "just a few scraps". If you get lucky and you get a few goblins during a run, that's already 10-45k per goblin. Get to the end? Another 100k for everyone in the party. Get Arges to spawn in one of the later rooms? Chances are you might end up with a good grade V materia (since those aren't rolled on)
Sure, the map owner also has a chance of getting some big rewards, like a good minion, or an orchestrion roll. But the most I've seen dropped during my maps were cheap things like red scrips, and glamour pieces that have tanked in price since 3.3, with a few of the cheaper minions.

I guess that works as long as everyone has a map. We often just have three or four people that collect em and we pick a day and get a group to run them all at once. It's a hell of a lot more fun and less hostile than what you guys are describing. Plus with Aquapolis a single map owner can super luck out and get so so much, whereas others could not get portals and be shafted.

I join the pts where everyone just keeps straight to bag drops and then owner can need items on their map.
It's easier and less frustrating to get nothing worthwhile the entire run when you get nothing from your own maps over getting nothing at all from a run even though your map dropped 5 highly sought after items and you rolled a 10 or under on them all.

Went with few FC members and an outside friend who wanted to see Aquapolis for the first time.
The rule was that the map owner gets everything and this was the second time I went in and the rule wasn't mentioned til the 2nd/3rd chamber, my friend kept looting need and one of my FC members got angry at her. I think if the game doesn't allow you to set loot rules than everything should be fair game. FC lost out on a Thanarvian (spelling?) dress and said "STOP NEEDING!" You can get those for 10k on Tonberry and the marketboard is right outside our FC house so it's not like he even had to go out his way to get one.
It's like the rule for Aquapolis loot on Tonberry was decided from the get go.
