I don't see a problem with a healer simply casting buffs when everyone is working on taking out the first group of trash mobs.
You just solved the answer to your own complaint.

Is it silly not waiting 30 seconds for buffs? Yes. But it's far sillier and far pettier to refuse to heal because of it.

Yeah, but I still had to take up for the healers out there who attempt to cast buffs at the start of an instance only to see the tank and everyone else run off as fast as possible. There's no reason to not wait for buffs, but of course I did have to make mention of the common sense approach to buffing an impatient party.

As far as flat out refusing to heal due to people not waiting for buffs, well, that's just childish and immature. If you attempted to buff the party and they ran off, suck it up and buff them during the first trash pull. It's not that big of a deal, especially considering that the same people the OP called into question (high level tanks running the instance for lore) are sync'd down, yes, but they are still over geared and more than able to take some hits while being buffed, and like I also mentioned it's best to let the tank build some enmity before healing the tank anyway.

Astrologian gets Lightspeed at level 6. There are no group instances in this game that level syncs you below 10, so Lightspeed -> Protect -> Stoneskin and you're good to go. If you're waiting on cooldowns because you're locked in a 30 second CD due to class swaps out of a Sanctuary, then well, the party should wait.

    You're being worse than him.

1-Have you heard of swiftcast and sprint?

2-"Hey you're not cooperating so i'm gonna let you die!". Hypocrite, "refusing to cooperate with your assigned" tank.

3- Think about what you're complaining and what you're doing.

The only reason it "wastes even more time" is due to you, nobody else. Just you.

Look at all these elitist "mentor" tanks! they cant deal with "noobs" why would they? they are too pro to wait for anyone, hey noob, do a speed run or bite the dust of my proness...lol elitist people, if you cant wait for buffs or deal with novice people, do them a favor and quit the dungeon.

I don't agree with attempting to force healers into doing runs faster than what they're comfortable with (even though I firmly believe being forced out of your comfort zone is one of the quickest ways to learn), but I also fail to understand why the tank running off in dungeons before receiving buffs is such a big deal that it required an entire thread. It's not like you're restricted to casting Protect and Stoneskin at the dungeon entrance so if he runs off just follow after him and cast them the next time he sits still. Or just go without it until you have a window of opportunity, like on a boss pull where no one is taking damage for a few seconds anyway. If the tank manages to die in the ~3 seconds it takes you to cast Protect he was probably going to die even with the buff, especially if we're only talking about dungeon trash.

With this character's death, the thread of prophecy remains intact.

Silly how people create this image in their head that players are one of two extremes- mentors or elitists, when in reality it's primarily people who don't coddle baddies and new players. New players aren't as stupid as you're insinuating, I'm sure they can problem solve casting Protect when they sprint and catch up to the tanks monster pack, or God forbid maybe a swiftcast.

Being pushed to do better helps you get better, it's not an elitist thing as much as you want it to be.

Sometimes I do dailies or fishing when qued, and when que pops I'm outside of sanctuary, so when I enter dungeon my spells are still on cooldown from switching jobs. And seeing attention deficit disorder and trigger happy tanks rushing as soon as barrier falls when I'm not prepared may get them killed wether I want it ot not, and it'll be only their own fault.

As someone who's main right now is Scholar on my newest character, I have learned a lot from the people in this thread. It is clear that teamwork is what is more important and the TC and his followers have made the definition of teamwork crystal clear.

Teamwork(as defined by the TC and his supporters in this thread): Everyone must do as I command without question, otherwise I shall stop doing my own job and allow my party to die as punishment for someone else playing the way they prefer to play.

Thank you so much for helping me to see the light! I shall set off to live via your glorious image of communist teamwork!
