Update: Added main hand/offhand & reasoning.

My main focus is crafting & I use all nq mats so perception is kinda pointless for me. If anything nq is better as it means hq can't take up that precious inventory space. Maxing gathering may allow this gear to have use in e.g. next expansion (If there is an expansion that is as I've not been keeping up-to-date). Anyway, chances are this gear is pointless but at least I'm prepared ..... at least I hope I am.

Main hand is the tool you get with Goblin Dice. Offhand is the new crafted piece. I am not aware of anything in the game that requires these stats, let alone anything close to them, but grats.

Since he obviously has the means to overmeld teir V materia, the crafted main hand tool will be much better than the Goblin Dice tool.

Edit: Oh and even with budget melds the crafted tool comes out better than Goblin Dice tool.

The token OH tool is going to be like every other token piece : better than the HQ crafted piece until that HQ crafted piece is melded.

Once you start melding, the HQ crafted piece becomes better.

@Maero. Yes, the crafted main hand tool and off hand tool are both superior to the current scrip tools as far as BiS. The offhand is superior even before melding. http://ffxiv.ariyala.com/UPHH Whether or not someone finds it worth it, I agree is a matter of opinion. However this thread is titled BiS gathering set, which would have to include the best tools and not budget enough to get by tools.

Oh so you can overmeld it? I was not aware, then in that case cary on, i would be wrong, lol.
I had not seen the HQ version of the crafted, the NQ is certainly not better then the script tool and serves as a beginners tool so to say and then can be given to a retainer

You've certainly outlined it there, though I'm not sure what the 'best' melds would be for the main and offhand tools since you can't cap them and you're so far above the necessary stats for items that currently exist it's insane. I guess at least slap some GP on at least one of them and you'll be at 701 GP without food (unless I added wrongly). More gathering stat will be somewhat useful in 4.0, but so will perception. Until then though I think you're probably capped.

MH, OH, Body are the three slots I intend to have no melds done (except maybe use up a 6 GP on them, for those that it will take to) simply because we do not know what will be necessary later on. I figure, those three cannot be capped at this point in time, so save melding them for when we know what will be necessary with 3.4 and beyond.

Only Tools can't be capped for i190 gathering stuff
