Ilberd? [SPOILER Discussion]

It has been a while since we last saw Ilberd.

Where the "Seven Hell" is he? I get he is a wanted criminal now but he has been way too quite for sometime since we last saw him.

So when do you think Ilberd will return into the story?

For me I am guessing he won't show his sorry hide until 4.0 and end up become one of those antagonist who becomes the very thing he hates.

Considering his background and motivations behind all of his actions, the reclamation of Ala Mihgo, we will see him again in 4.0. Lolorito probably has him hidden somewhere nice and safe prepping for the push into Ala Mihgo.

That post MSQ talk with the Flame General was pretty heavy handed making sure to mention Ilberd and Ala Mhigo. I feel we will see him in 3.5 if I had to guess. Not 3.4, I feel that one will be sort of an epilogue to 3.x, 3.5 will be the prologue to 4.0, that's when the Ala Mhigo front will be front and center and lead itself to reentering Ilberg.

For my money with that mention and the fact that when he used what looked like an updated Red Lotus after using EnFire on his blade while fighting Raubahn, leads me to believe not only will he be back in 4.0 or before. I believe he will be involved in the Red Mage job quest, either as a quest giver or an enemy depending on if the character is redeemed or not.

I mean Red Mage-like skills in an expansion that has two named/hinted jobs, its obvious.

Yeah, all signs point to Ilberd being back before too long.

It's also worth noting that one of the unfortunate side-effects of MMO storytelling is that things get pretty stretched out when the content that's meant to build up towards a climax needs to be spread out over a year and a half with three month between. Remember when Krile was name-dropped during the 2.0 Main Story, and again in 2.x?

It's on this principle that I don't judge the resolution of the Ul'Dah stuff as harsh as others (though it was definitely still anti-climactic): it's almost guaranteed to be a part of things to come, just potentially down the line a ways.

I wouldn't be surprised if he's a main antagonist in the expansion. We're almost certainly heading to Ala Mhigo, plus the idea of him activating Omega somehow ties up a long ignored plot thread.

Crying aside, I agree with the poster who said 3.4 or 3.5. 3.4 might give us some last "wrapping things up with Ishgard" quests before we start rolling over to Ul'dah/Ala Mhigo, though of course there's still unresolved things they can always dangle to keep us coming back (hellooooo, Tiamat).

This makes me want to visit my Unending Journey and look at what other plot things I might have missed.

3.3 is the "wrap things up with Ishgard" main Scenario as Yoshi-p. 3.4 and 3.5 are most likely the point when we finally move towards the 4.0 area with 3.4 giving us reasons to head there and 3.5/3.55 being the Main Scenario show how our character ended up in 4.0.

I am seriously going to laugh if the WoL reason for enter 4.0, assuming *cough* will be*cough* Ala Mhigo, zone is another 2.55 but the role switched around where the WoL is the one who has to stay behind so his or her allies can escape leading up to the WoL being captured then rescued by a new group of Ala Mhigo Resistance that have been stuck within Ala Mhigo in secret thus introducing a new Major character who will play a part in 4.0 Main Scenario and setting the stage for following up the story with the WoL waking up inside Ala Mhigo in 4.0.

My second guess is the long awaited Battle of Ala Mhigo is a success and we atleast get access to a small piece of the 4.0 zone as a default base of operation until players buy 4.0 to access the rest of the 4.0 area. Setting the stage for the bigger part of the Battle for Ala Mhigo in 4.0 within the 4.0 areas.
