I'm going to ignore the last few pages of this thread and start on a different track. Yesterday, I watched my girlfriend get through the last few quests of 3.3 and so got to rewatch all the final cutscenes and it made me think a lot about Ala Mhigo and what comes next. I took a trip to East Shroud due to its geographical closeness, and wandered here:

This is more or less as close you can get to the great wall, and it has a prominent Garlean presence. Obviously all the interesting paths are blocked off, but I thought - might this be what will become the entryway into Gyr Abania later on? How different was this part of the Shroud in 1.0, and are there any quests now that talk about the region and what happened after the Autumn War?

It could be, but if I remember it was the Twelveswood that erected the wall, they probably wouldn't be too happy to drop it to let people pass. You might get to play in the zone for a little while, maybe Castrum Oriens (or the ruins of it) might make for a good dungeon. So after some trial and error we might be promted to find another route. Either through the mountains of Xelphatol which is to the north of Gridania or the Sylphlands if I'm looking at this right according to the world map or...

We have to follow the resistance (They might be in possession of a means to summon a primal, which would goad us to follow them in disguse, only after they use said primal to wreck things in Eorzea first) to the Sea of Jade but first have to cross the mighty desert of Paglth'an. There is also the matter of the Warring Triad, I don't know if they're going to weave that in to the MSQ towards the end or not.
