It this formula truly is fine..why did so many people I know who played XI and 1.x the entire duration, gone and never came back?

Honestly when people quit, they always tell me because of the lockouts, tomes and nothing to do. Diadem could be great yeah, but they just kinda left it there for now. Maybe Palace of the Dead will help a bit, but it is still just a small, tiny fix in this whole..thing. Simply put, this game struggles with longevity.

And as I said a couple pages back, there are plenty of ideas given for over 3 years now and they continue to ignore them. Again, pop tier NM was a popular one here and on the JP side. Just one of many ideas. The fact that the gear has such boring stats (That was another suggestion, interesting stats), ilvl just keeps increasing (Yet another suggestion, throw in a little bit of horizontal progression and longevity), things come out and are DOA (dead on arrival) , there is still many issues here...

I really do not feel they are trying, in fact are back peddling by shooting down every good idea from NA and JP side alike. They are trying to add things into the same formula, but ignoring the bigger issue at hand. Well anyway just my thoughts...

and AGAIN like I keep saying over and over, there is 0..ZEROOOO FC content in this game still and the game is 3 years old now! You could say workshop...but that doesnt last, isnt really battle content, and only if your FC has a house. Mine did the workshop really quickly. There is also nearly 0 open world group content..there is many things they can add but they just choose not to.

I'm shocked people are citing Blizzard and WoW as POSITIVE examples in this thread and others like it :/ You know... the company that openly mocks its fanbase, sells twitter/selfie cam as major content patches, constantly uses corporate double talk to make excuses for their laziness, enforces a raid or die mentality and routinely goes 12+ months without adding any content while still charging a sub. But hey at least they "shake" things up every xpac... by gutting classes, professions, leveling ect... so it is even easier to start raiding on day 1 with zero effort invested.

Regardless I've said this before but whenever I hear "vets" complain about FF14 they are simply fed up with the modern mmo genre as a whole. It is a endless hamster wheel that constantly dangles gear in-front of you as a carrot and FF14, being a heavily instance PVE focused mmo, completely follows this formula. There are more sand box or "retro" style mmos out there that can suit your desires but do keep in mind other people like the current model just fine. Plus SE does try to experiment with new side content fairly regularly even if said content often does not go over well with us as a community.

Oh and one final note... the tomestone grind that people constantly complain about... that's basically the valor system from WoW. A system people in WoW have been begging for years to have implemented back in because they hate the systems they have recently had. Personally I'll take the tomestone grind every time.

We have had tomestones for YEARS. It gets boring and tedious, especially when you wrap almost all of the game's progression behind it for every class and job. The notion of new tomestones being announced as news is laughable, as they are the same as the old tomestones.

You ever wonder if you are going to be grinding tomestones in 5 years? cause people do wonder that, at least those that put these questions before in OF and reddit.

A lot of MoP and especially WoD's downfalls is that the game is largely uninteresting once you hit level cap, and especially the case during WoD where your character... remains largely the same at 100 as they were at 90 (and I actually got bored leveling my first character to 100, because it was exactly the same as I was playing in MoP months prior) . At that point, the gameplay is no longer interesting beyond the fight mechanics, a huge emphasis on garrison (which no one really liked) and a ton of scrapped conceptual ideas that were really well received by the players when announced, and unfortunately had no compromise but instead cut it out cold turkey.

Taking a break from WoW when they have 12+ month content droughts is understandable...but that context doesn't fully carryover to FFXIV where people need to take a break to apparently break from the tedium with patches that go on a 3 month cycle.

There's nothing wrong with taking a break, I have been playing on and off since 2.0 beta, I wont lie, I have taken breaks, my sub ran out 3 months ago due to a twister taking my house, and now I'm playing again mostly working on crafting and gathering classes while waiting back to get my house back, but I can normally find something to keep me from getting burned out on, I think that's whats causing most people to quit/taking breaks.

It hasn't worked in their favor each time, but they are trying at least.
I had an idea pop into my head yesterday that was a change to the current dungeon formula. Though when I tried to tell my friend my idea, he recently came over from WoW, he instantly recognized the mechanic type I was thinking of and went into "Wrath of the Lich King" mode. Where he proceeded to start talking about the things in WoW that also worked off the idea, Obsidian Sanctum, Ruby Sanctum, and part of the Ulduar raid.

The core of the idea that popped into my head would be that the dungeon would only have 1 super boss, and would have 3-4 optional key rooms, with no restriction on the order you can do them, where you could go defeat/interact with something which would weaken the boss. It would be like a extreme trial, only placed in a dungeon so you could disable phases to scale the bosses power. With an achievement if you beat the boss without touching the other rooms, and more potential loot options.

@Tankhunter678 please post this idea in a more accessible area like a new thread, we need more dynamic dungeons, this would be a nice change up
