I finished 4 level 50 relics before heavensward came out (PLD, MNK, NIN, and DRG) and have finished 3 (BRD, SMN, and BLM) more since. Along with starting WHM (which is at the Atma stage) As for the level 60 relics, I have 2 hyperconductives (NIN and DRG) and working on a third (MCH) up to that level.
Never once did I feel like I was smashing my face into a wall. It was just something else I added to my dailies. The unidentified items are stupidly easy to to get since everything you do daily wise gives you the means to get them. Especially if you do the beast tribe dailies. If you play efficiently, you can also use the heavensward ones to level any battle job from 50 - 60 in no time. The aether oils are handed to you each week if you just do crystal tower. Not hard, no head banging, just invest the time and be efficient.
I also have a grade 9 chocobo that I did back when the Gold Saucer first came in. While doing dailies back during the 2.xx series. Just for funzies, I've started on a second line of birds from scratch, just so I can breed the two 9s later and have a super bird. If by all means you don't enjoy these things and find them torturous, go find a game that you do enjoy. This one, and it sounds like MMOs in general, is not for you.
However, don't claim you have an insight into what the majority wants. At best you can glean what the vocal minority wants just from looking at these forums. Honestly the formula that you all seem to want changed isn't with the game, it's with how you play it. Learn to be efficient. Use your time wisely instead of standing around twiddling your fingers. That's how to maximize the fun on an MMO. Also, Never expect anything to ever be the best for long. It's always going to be a treadmill. Last year at this time, Dreadwyrm, Ironworks, and Zetas were the endgame gear. Ilevel 130 - 135. Right now it's Lore and Midas stuff. 240. Next year it'll probably be 350. Who knows.
We get content patches like clockwork. Roughly every 3 months. New dungeons, new story, new everything. Just as you finish gearing out one job at max, and maybe a secondary at slightly less, bam more stuff to do.
