There is technically pretty much endless content but it gets to a point where you'd rather slam your head into a wall than do the "content". Levelling all jobs for example is fun, but getting 10 50 relics(I have 2 Zeta) & 13 60 relics(I have 2 at 230)? That isn't fun, that is torture. Grade 9 pedigree Chocobo? I got to grade 4 during the MGP event & it had to one of the least fun I've ever had w/ FF14, however I wanted that 50% boost. Companion to 20? Why. I got to 10 before all my jobs got to 60. There is no longer any good reason to level my companion. It gets to a point where you would rather play something fun(or slam your face into a wall) than torture yourself like a completionist. Ofc if you find it fun, that's great but a majority doesn't. It boils down to capping lore weekly doing 2 dungeons or if you raid(maybe 5-10% of the pop) you get to run the same 4 10 min raids every week for 7 months for gear that will be near useless every 7 months.

I finished 4 level 50 relics before heavensward came out (PLD, MNK, NIN, and DRG) and have finished 3 (BRD, SMN, and BLM) more since. Along with starting WHM (which is at the Atma stage) As for the level 60 relics, I have 2 hyperconductives (NIN and DRG) and working on a third (MCH) up to that level.

Never once did I feel like I was smashing my face into a wall. It was just something else I added to my dailies. The unidentified items are stupidly easy to to get since everything you do daily wise gives you the means to get them. Especially if you do the beast tribe dailies. If you play efficiently, you can also use the heavensward ones to level any battle job from 50 - 60 in no time. The aether oils are handed to you each week if you just do crystal tower. Not hard, no head banging, just invest the time and be efficient.

I also have a grade 9 chocobo that I did back when the Gold Saucer first came in. While doing dailies back during the 2.xx series. Just for funzies, I've started on a second line of birds from scratch, just so I can breed the two 9s later and have a super bird. If by all means you don't enjoy these things and find them torturous, go find a game that you do enjoy. This one, and it sounds like MMOs in general, is not for you.

However, don't claim you have an insight into what the majority wants. At best you can glean what the vocal minority wants just from looking at these forums. Honestly the formula that you all seem to want changed isn't with the game, it's with how you play it. Learn to be efficient. Use your time wisely instead of standing around twiddling your fingers. That's how to maximize the fun on an MMO. Also, Never expect anything to ever be the best for long. It's always going to be a treadmill. Last year at this time, Dreadwyrm, Ironworks, and Zetas were the endgame gear. Ilevel 130 - 135. Right now it's Lore and Midas stuff. 240. Next year it'll probably be 350. Who knows.

We get content patches like clockwork. Roughly every 3 months. New dungeons, new story, new everything. Just as you finish gearing out one job at max, and maybe a secondary at slightly less, bam more stuff to do.

If ALL you do is your dailies and tribes, thats only about 10 per week. Thats 2 months to finish that step (if you were lucky enough to have ARR tribes levelled. Longer with Vanu and Gnath). The content is meaningless, theres plenty of it but its meaningless due to lockouts and grinds that get nerfed. So its a blatant lie if you say you've finished 3 hyper conductives by doing dailies and beast tribes, since thats 6 months for that step ALONE on 3 relics at that pace.

Also thats a problem with vertical progression. Not MMOs. Infact most people who hate this system are 10+ year MMO gamers pre WoWs Panda land.

I have 2 hyperconductives, and I said I was working toward a third. Not 3 completed, reread what I said. I have 7 completed zetas. You may have gotten confused there. Yes, I have all 5 of the ARR beast tribes at max rep. So, let's do that math - 2 months of work (which is do-able) for one hyperconductive and I've completed 2, so 4 months. I'm also partially toward another, by pretty much not focusing on it at all. See, Since I had so many zetas completed I've gotten to totally skip the FATE grinding first part, blast through the second and be well on my way into the unidentified part. Working on more zetas and having those beast tribes at max rep really did help give me a firm foot forward with poetic tomestones and unidentifieds.

Now on to the rest of your statement. Only you believe the content is meaningless. As I said, when I started replying to this thread - just because you wish to ignore content because it doesn't interest you doesn't mean it's meaningless. Again don't say "most people" just to add weight to your argument, that's a fallacy. Maybe those in your circle believe the way you do, but that doesn't speak for everyone.

It did not take that long at all to realize that we were being set on the familiar pattern (after reaching the end of the first Main Scenario Milestone) of "1-2 dungeons release with content patch", at least one of those catering to non-raid players, and potentially an additional raid or extreme version of a primal fight to tide over those desiring more difficulty in their gameplay.

Though despite reaching the end myself, I still embrace what I had originally found to be fun with the game, and even going so far as to breach my own comfort zone, to find a peaked interest in content that would naturally bore me in any other game. This is the mentality I wish more people would embrace. Don't just pay and pay for more and more content, but pay for the content you already have, and ravage it with selfish and reckless abandon. Everyone has their limit though, but that's also why we have our own safe word to back out and take a breather.
