Would people be against the dev team coming out and saying "Enough with the holy trinity, we don't need to copy WoW 100% this is a Final Fantasy game"
And then they added to it so we have Tanks, Healers, DPS and support classes! I always thought the game would be better and maybe have a bit more depth if hypothetically party set up was like this

1 Healer = White Mage
1 DPS = Dragoon
1 Support = Time Mage

or would be now be hearing stuff like "Time Mages shouldn't DPS!" ???
The game would have to undergo lots of coding and balancing so it will never happen most likely but I always assumed the 4 party dungeons were a little nod to how party set up was in the older games where you would have a healer and a support class with you.

The problem with having a support role is that they;d have to redo the entire dungeon/party system to include it. It's way too small of a party pool espesically with how many dps we have now. The moment you introduce jobs that are support oriented with relatively much weaker dps abilities, it becomes an issue where they're either too weak to justify a party slot, too good to not have one in your party, or taking away a party slot from the queue and significantly increase match-up timers.

Two things:
1) AST is practically Time Mage.
2) Wouldn't the addition of a Support role downplay AST, BRD, and MCH's supports' importance? I mean, they could shift BRD and MCH to Support, but then we would loose both our Physical Ranged DPS, while AST is too set in as a Healer to change.

yah it's what I mentioned in the other parts I'm content with keeping it as is but adding in more hybrid jobs like Bard. (I never played Bard but people say it's a hybrid job) I suppose proposing a what if scenario would be best life if it was like it from the start.

What do you bring a BRD for when it comes to dungeons and raids? If you answered DPS, then you just defined it's role. Nearly every job has some form of utility that it's encouraged to have a diverse composition; you can't have anyone substitute what a DRG can bring for example.

I don't even play Bard, don't even know its actions. Just going off what people have told me when I ask "what does this thing the bard casts do?" and they say its a support ability. I don't even wanna argue about this. I know nothing about bard so I don't want to pretend I know what I'm talking about if it's not a hybrid class of support and dps then sorry for my ignorance.

Well, your DRG has abilties like disembowel and battle illianity, while also having access to mantra. What do you feel those debuffs do? It not only improves your personal performance, but the party as well. BRD and MCH have full access to dps abilties as well, but rather than having something like crit buff, they have mana/tp regen which still helps the party. But you'd still be bringing those jobs to fill in the primary purpose of a dps, because that's what they are made to do.

You can just take a quick look at what abilities they gain as they level; Out of their 16+ skills, only 4 would truly be considered as something that effect people that isn't just themselves, and the first one isn't gained until level 30; the rest is dps skills. MCH doesn't get their regen until 42, and their damage reduction abilties like dismantle mirrors that of virus and storm's path. Likewise as BRD, you'd bring a MCH to fill in the role of a dps with the party composition in mind, much like how you'd bring in a warrior or DRG to fill in the role of tank or dps, but keeping in mind of what they bring to the table. That's sort of why a true-support job wouldn't work in the current deisgn, it'd start to compete with existing slots unless they redesign all instanced content to require larger groups and encounters with them in mind.

they could just up mob damage/hp by a tiny bit and add support to the party make up. so itd still be a tank/healer/melee/ranged/support thing is a single support job being added would maybe make queues even longer after the first few weeks when everyones got the new new levelled and either ditch it or go level with something else

I ask the same thing as well. Since rerelease I've lost entire guilds and so many friends.

The game is just too easy and simple so people lose interest. They also kill content so fast that people give up on gearing up because as soon as they're done the gear is dead. Yes mmos are a gear treadmill however, no mmo kills off it's gear this fast.

This game is also really restrictive, you can't really play how you want. You have to play how the devs want, you have to do quests, you have to use these stats, you have to use this set, etc.

I'm only here because Aion is full of BRs and the crafting in Blade and Soul is horrible.
