CPU Spiking issue making game unplayable

    Platform: Windows 7 64bit, Ultimate i7-920, 6GB ram, 2x Ati Radeon 4870 1Gb.
    ISP: BSkyB
    Connection: ADSL2+
    Speed:17Mbit
Date & Time: Since release of 27 Oct Hotfix Patch
    Frequency:Almost Always
    Charecter: Quit Tessa
    Race: Miqo'te
    World: Melmond
    Class/Skill Rank: All
    Area: All
    Party/Solo: Solo
    NPC: n/a
    Monster Name: n/a
    In Game Time: All

Step 1: Run, Start Synthing, Start Gathering.
Step 2: Continue to do so - after 1-2 Minutes issue starts

Since the 27 Oct patch there has been an issue with a CPU usage spike which causes the game to lockup for brief moments - but only when moving, synthing, gathering. Whilst standing still and doing nothing the game remains running smoothly with no spikes or framerate drops.
I have to keep re-starting the game and computer until the issue doesn't hapen - this successful run happens around 1 time in six.
I run the game fullscreen and have a seperate cpu monitor - the second core of my i7-920 keeps spiking up to 100% usage and at that moment the game freezes and then continues about 0.25 seconds later. This happens about once every second and is obviously extremely distracting and makes it impossible to gather correctly as the minigame pointer is not smooth.

If any more information would help please contact me. I am happy to even supply a video if it would help.

    Greetings Quitesa!

Thank you for your assistance with writing a report for us, it is appreciated! Your reported concern about the CPU usage spikes definitely seems unusual, and we will be reporting this for you for investigation. It should also be noted that this could be a technical issue, which may be able to be resolved through the Technical Support forum. Since there is no guarantee that an official response will be posted on this thread, I suggest keeping an eye on the http://lodestone.finalfantasyxiv.com/ website and http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/forums/133 for any news on this matter.

Thank you again for your assistance and apologies for any inconvenience!
