    Crafter Etiquette

    Hello Crafters,

As one who doesn't have any inclination to put the amazing amount of work you have put into crafting, I find myself with a question: Do you get requests from non-FC members for your crafting skills?

If so, what's the procedure? In other games, I provide mats, they craft it, and I give them a nice tip and everyone is happy. However, I understand crafting failure is a thing, but since I'm providing materials, I guess I'd eat that cost, right?

(For those interested in details, I'm only looking for a NQ hat for glamouring purposes. Unfortunately, only HQ on the MB and I have to believe normal would be a significant markdown since it's a level 64 item, specifically a "Tigerskin Tricorne of Aiming" Link:http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodest...m/8d52df7173e/)

Yes, I get requests from random peple on my server. The provide materials + tip and we are both happy. If you see any crafters out and about it wouldn't hurt to ask them, or you could make a PF looking for a crafter to make it and put that you are providing mats and list how much of a tip you are offering.

I've failed some crafts for people who gave me mats. I replenish those out of my pocket. It sucks but I'm the one who failed.

Edit: that hat should be incredibly easy for a crafter of that level to make. You could probably shout in Kugane and offer a tip and you'll get a taker.

Alright, thanks, that's a good idea. Any idea how much of a tip to offer? I saw in another thread that a guy was asking 50k from his fricken' FC members, but the mats themselves cost 35kish. Adding 50k tip, I might as well buy the HQ one that's up for 90k lol.

If you just want it for glamour then buy the hat from the vendor in either Reunion or Namai, I can't remember which one has level 64 items.

The tip really scales depending on difficulty of the item. For what you're asking, 5k for their time should be fine.

If you want something that requires mastercraft books that's another story.

For that specific hat a 5k or 10k if feeling genorous. Is an easy craft and wont take even a minute.

Wow I'm so stupid, I didn't even think of looking on vendors. Sold in Azim Khaat (Floaty Isle in the Steppe). Thank you all for responding though!

@OP: One thing to keep in mind that is that many of those HQ DoW/M pieces are priced below cost of goods. They are rewards from MSQ. Look at many LTW-made gear. The HQ version sells for 8k whereas the materials for a single leather sell for 8k. Cost of goods on something like the Tigerskin Tricorne might be 50k or more.
