So. . . DO add more buttons to possibly trip over (who hasn't had a moment when they fumbled around their own UI/button/skill/rotation sequence?) or keep Misery's End/Assassinate/Heartbreak on its own slot rather than setup a (well made) macro that uses it as soon as, and when most readily possible?
I mean, I'm trying to understand how the macro (no one knows I've used FOREVER now) that has effectively finished off many an adversary (especially in PvP) with a well timed skill use at its earliest possible chance has been so bad so far?

No. Just no. Please never ever do that.

Well, it isn't hard to use it on either Aeolian Edge or Armor Crush, both of which would be better. I can see that it can be tricky to always use it with Aeolian Edge in an actual fight when you also have to provide the slashing debuff for your party and have downtime, but shadow fang? Uhm...that just seems like a waste.
I personally start off with Suiton - SE - Jug - GS - Kassatsu - AE/DE, depending - B4B - SE - Int Release - SF - Trick Attack - Muti - Raiton/Fuma - SE - DWD - GS - Duality - AE - Mug. From then on, it depends on the fight! I can comfortably alternate DE and AC combo while keeping up my DoTs and use the rest more or less on CD, but sometimes, I might hold abilities a bit for burst phases. Even on a Plasma Shield where you can only hit the front, though, it's better to use Duality on Dancing Edge or even Armor Crush than Shadow Fang. You got 10 seconds after Trick Attack hits, so that fits 4 GCD abilities and 4 OGCD abilities without troubles. I don't see why you wouldn't use it on "any" of the 3 combo finishers instead, all of which are a better choice even without hitting the positional (even more so if you do).

The practical usage instead of the math is the ability to push out more damage upfront which is needed in most fights if you're wanting to be called a good player. Also if you want to be even thought of as someone that knows anything, instead of just saying random shit, post proof of it no one is going to take you seriously without it and with ff logs being so simple to use that's easy.
