You think getting the relic takes a long time? The alternative to the relic quest is doing Savage raiding, and that, my friends, is a timesink if ever there was one.

The relics are intended as a means for less "hardcore" players to obtain high-level weaponry. It is a walk in the park compared to reaching, clearing and farming A8S, even if the time investment is significant.

The minimum-effort way to an i240 weapon is logging in once a week to clear A8N for seven weeks so you can get the Lore weapon.

By the way relic quest isn't meant to be hard, it is meant to be grindy. There is tomestone weapon, grind weapon and hard-obtainable weapon (raid).
Even Yoshi said (2-3 Live Letters ago) that relic is grindy alternative to other weapons that is supposed to be a bit behind raid weapon and is supposed to take some time to get.

I like the way you assume raiders have no life. You know lots of raiders log in and raid for a few hours a week, since thats what they enjoy and thats what they have time for.

Back to relic, its not designed for everyone. There also isnt a time limit on it, you can complete it however you like in what ever time period suits you. There are lore weapons there for those with less time than is needed to commit to relic.

I don't even Raid currently.

I'm 7 6 6 6 with the Relic weapon, slowly progressing by running whichever dailies I feel like doing and not once did I feel like the grind was becoming too much.
The amount of work it takes to finish the relic is one thing but knowing that I'll actually have accomplished something at the end of said long road is a source of endless motivation.

I'd rather grind several months for a highly exclusive and powerful weapon instead of seeing every other [Class] own the same upgraded Anima weapon as I do.
Making the grind take this long ensures a much more rewarding payout. It's inevitable that SE will nerf the grind at some point so just wait until then if it's too much for you right now.

And excuse me, but last I checked this is an MMO. SE made content for casuals and "hard core" players. its not meant to have content suitable to one play group. There's plenty of stuff for casuals to do no problem, and then stuff to please the hardcore raiders. If you can't handle the more difficult content, then it obviously isn't for you.

As much as I hate to admit it, it's to shoehorn people into running Alex and 24-man dungeons to get their gear. There are people who don't want to invest the time and skill into statics and random DFs to try to get good enough to clear them, so the relic grinds are for them to get their 230s and 240s. Also, by having people grind so many dailies, it keeps SE's content relevant by having people continuously run the dungeons. THAT is the real reason why you have to grind.

Took me 5hrs to get the crystals (even though i had the Zeta weapons). Took me 2 weeks to get all the 80 items by just doing beast tribes and dailies and logging off. Played about 2-4 hours a day didn't feel the need to farm my self to boredom so i logged off after the dailies were done. Gathered and crafted all my items in probably 8 hrs spread out with in 3 days. Spent a total of around 3k because i was too lazy to go and mine one node. I work long hours, days off/after work i play

there's a lot to do but unlike 3.3 Anima you have more ways of getting the items (hunts/seals, beast tribes, tombstones, treasure maps)
