Took me 2 weeks to get all the 80 items by just doing beast tribes and dailies and logging off.

With 2 weeks of play time you can only get 12 items through beast quests, which means it would have taken roughly 23,120 Esoterics and Poetics tomes in order to fill out the remaining 68 items. Even if you did every economical roulette for the bonus (Main Scenario, Trial, Leveling, 50, & 60) that would only net you with 4.760 bonus Eso and 2,640 bonus Poetics, which is a far cry from the amount you would need. It would be more realistic if you said 2 months instead of 2 weeks.

People keep saying can't expect them to make it too easy to obtain the best weapon, firstly it is not the best weapon. Secondly the part the OP is complaining about only bumps the weapon up to 210 and not 240. I can very much understand why someone would think the amount of work in this stage just to go from 200-210 is not reasonable. While people will be harder pressed to argue about the overall amount of work required to hit 240, there is a valid argument to be had about the various stages not being equally balanced in terms of effort vs reward for them.

Each stage is not equally shared in terms of amounts of effort and for a pretty low stage this requires a lot of effort, perhaps too much when just going from 200 to 210. It might have been better to more equally share out the burden across all stages rather than making some extremely hard while others easier and if they are to make some easy and some hard then the hard ones should be in the latter stages and not the early ones.

The step isn't too long. And I'm afraid to even hear what your suggestion might be in order to make it "fair" to you. Also, don't presume to insult other players as if your time is worth more than theirs or that they must "have no life or nothing to do" in order to complete a Quest with literally twelve different methods of obtaining the required items. I'll list them. ARR Hunt Seals, purchase from your GC. Poetic Tomestones, Esoteric Tomestones, Kobold, Sylph, Amal'jaa and Sahagin Beast tribe daily quests, Vanu Vanu, Moogle, and Gnath also provide all four from their respective vendors, not to mention various Maps which drop a variety of the items. Also Alexander Gordias. Precision tokens can be exchanged. So you don't have time to do any of those things? Really?

The relics are not meant to be...easy.

I remember doing my DRG 50 relic, going 3 weeks without a single atma drop. i did my unidentified items in a few weeks for the 60 relic. you want to complain? it's 200 runs of every floor of Alexander Gordias 1-4, minus whatever Eso you spend on the two Token items you can buy in Idyllshire, plus 6 days on each of the beast tribes in HW to get enough tokens to get them - moogles excluded - (68 runs or something per item, 680/10 eso per run) and you can do the CT quest weekly to have your Aether Oils for your Hyper conductive stage now. Congratz by the way, SOME of us had to grind out 1800 eso per because there was no other way to get them. Some of us busted our butts for a good month to get our relics past that stage.

Now? now we have the latest stage, 300eso times...what? 80? less if we get lucky? I'm willing to put the time into my relic for this. I went to diadem. I collected my mats. I did my crafting (alt: buy mats, find crafter). I put in a lot of hours, yes...but will it be a reward in the end? Yes. a Relic isn't a handout. a Relic is something one works for. The whole point of it is that it will be Savage Tier equivalent without having to go raid and do savage content.

Actually, the relic IS the easy option. But for that same reason, it's the long one.

Look around the forums and you'll see the relic gets no love from me at all, but I'm aware it was meant to be a long, easy road to something good, for those who lack the time/skill/desire to do more challenging content. Now, numbers show that even those who do have what it takes get relics anyways, but the relic largely remains both an equalizer among players, and a catalyst for sustaining/reviving older content. I frown upon it, openly and loudly, but I'm aware of its necessity, personal feelings aside.

But let's stop kidding ourselves about the relic not being "easy". The last time it was not easy, we had to fight the HM Primals fpr it, and people largely hated the challenge. Others thought it was TOO easy (those who had the skill/desire that is). For that reason and more, we all got a series of grinds.

I'm a casual. I only get on for a bit at a time most of the time due to work, family, etc. It has taken me a long time to get the items. But I don't feel that they need to make it easier. Like others have said...you can just go get a totally different weapon. Run EX primals, buy one with tomes in Idyllshire. Not all of the content should be made easy. I started the relic from the first day they let us start them. I'm still finishing my unidentifieds. I have 5 left to go.

To be honest, I think this relic is way better than the last one. I'm not on the step to get my aether oils yet, but that didn't stop me from running the crystal tower dungeons throughout the week to get them. You can do any step of the relic regardless of what step you are on...I like that. It makes it much easier to obtain over the last one. It's fine how it is.

I will admit, I'm surprised this step didn't see any ease in difficulty with 3.3, considering that the reward is a fairly outdated 210 weapon and the step after it, bizarrely enough, is almost laughably easy to complete. I can't really say it bugs me, as I'm almost done mine and will work on another if I get bored enough, but I won't deny that it's surprising.

3 month grind to 230 or 3 hour grind over 7 weeks for a Lore weapon with accrued 1000 Lore.

It's easy to see why the Lore weapon will be favored more for casuals over the casual grind weapon.

The real question is... why is the ilvl200-210 step so hard when ilvl210 weapons are so easy to get from tomes? Total of 80 unidentifieds and 16 crafted items to get something equal to spending some tomes and 1 run of void ark to upgrade.

It makes no sense to me, the current sought after stage (ilvl230/240) should be the difficulty stage to work on. Not the stage that is mindnumbingly easy to get elsewhere.
