I think I would like there to be more to at least zodiark than a creature that wants to destroy all reality. perhaps its existence is more needed than the mothercrystal thinks. I would be esctatic if it ended up talking to us as the purple crystal instead.

The thing is both sides in the light/dark conflict seek to banish, destroy or otherwise unmake the other. Perhaps what is needed is not destruction, but a passing of the torch?

The curious thing here is that if Hydaelyn or Zodiark were to be truly destroyed the world itself would likely cease to exist. There have been hints to that effect in a few places, and Unukulhai's recollection of what happened to his world lends some credence to the theory. Given that the world the Ascians lurk in is effectively created from aether by their own will though it would in theory be possible for someone strong enough at manipulating aether to create an entirely new world.

I wouldn't be surprised if the ultimate direction of the story is that we destroy both Zodiark and Hydaelyn and then use our immense power to essentially 'summon' a new world from the aether released in their wake.

It's my favourite crazy theory at the moment. But hey, we do seem to have almost all of her remaining power now. The whole 'Bearer of the Torch' thing from back in 2.55 could also be interpreted to mean as much as well.

I don't think the conflict in the story could be resolved by giving rise to a new Hydaelyn though. It's fairly clear now that the separation of Light and Dark caused by Zodiark's excision is the core problem in the universe (regardless of why Hydaelyn did it). If we're to truly resolve things we'll need to find a way reunite those two forces and create a new 'Protocrystal'. The whole 'Light and Dark in harmony' trope is about as typical Final Fantasy as you can get as well.

I strongly suspect the strengthening of our blessing might be part of that, perhaps to the point where we no longer need her direct intervention to benefit from it. If so the thing with Minfilia may also be part of that and if that is the case, I wouldn't be surprised if we find other examples of it.

That idea had been discussed to death and it simply doesn't work. The Scions, who are dedicated to finding more about primals and where they pop up, would have noticed something was amiss the moment they saw you.
