No need to over think it, it's very simple. Look up a popular 3 star rotation (like Raths), look at the minimum Craft/Control needed, then go to Ariyala, and play with the melds that give you at least the craft/control you have and meld the rest for CP. The only thing complicated is knowing which order or meld or what pieces to meld first but all of that is save on cost (gil). If you want to be cost effective and make your melds more complicated, you'll have to do market research to determine materia cost on your server and slot the most expensive materia to least expensive materia in that order.

Melding is not something you think overlong about. Just look at Ariyala's site, see what the stat caps are for the piece, and take it from there. Some pieces you will not be able to cap; but most you will be able to, or at least come very close to it.

I would not recommend overmelding T5 Materia though. That's just too dang pricey! T4 are much more readily available (3 per day from top level Ixali quests, a lot of gear can be spirit bonded for T4 Materia, and you can get them for Red Crafting Tokens for 9 more per week if you are not using your Red Crafting Scrip for other things, and that's not even looking at the Marketboard) and so are a much better option for overmelding.

I'm not sure that I would look at the whole suit all at once, for two reasons. First, information overload. Second, don't want you to panic in seeing how much you have to meld. Better to take it one piece at a time. As long as you are melding for the maximum stats (when possible) you will be melding well enough for whatever comes along in the future, and will definitely exceed the current stat requirements.

I think that's some sound advice not only for me, but newcomer's to Melding. I appreciate the suggestions. This is why this community is so awesome as compared to the WoW community. I hope to someday "pay it forward" with tips and suggestions like those you provided.

That is my guidelines b/c I don't have massive amounts of money to sink into it. About half way down in that thread on that page is a good guide

How limited will my crafter be if I just end up using IVs in place of Vs for full iron works hq. Truth be told I probably qualify as a midcore to casual crafter at best. Since they were power leveled through leves and beast tribes with nothing but the bare minimal of knowledge on crafting. At most I just wanted to make glamours and minions stuff that doesn't usually need to be hq.

It kinda depends, I don't know what/if glamour or minions have min/max stat requirements so you would probably be fine but be careful on your progess on those things.

Well i think almost every piece should at least start off with a ControlV (i said most not all, lol) sadly at least on Leviathan the price has shot up again to over a million.
At the time i had purchased mine for around 600K. Thankfully the mog tribe gave multiple control v's as well as a reward

I may end up remelding after I get some more Gill. But what is a good amount of cp to have if I am not using macros or really trying to high quality a item? From looking at the items I plan to craft I meet the craft manship and control.

Ehhhh i am not a CP heavy person and I was getting away with 380-400 and then would use like a Bouli, i mean if you know the actions you can really get more CP unless RNG hates you but if you don't care about HQ i would say you are safe with that CP and no bouli.

If you have no plans to HQ something, then all you need would be enough CP for whatever Progress moves you plan on doing - and for durability restoration.

That said, if you think you ever may plan on trying to make something of a high star level, invest in all the CP that you can possibly get. Right now, at 60 with top of the line crafted gear, that would be 430 CP before food.
