If they follow their same patch cycle, it'll be that.

If by "pre-expansion story" you mean the story arc tied to 4.0, then that'll be starting in 3.4 (3 months from now), not 9 months from now.
2.4 started the Ishgard story arc, leading up to the release of 3.0 and ending in 3.3, 3.4 will likely be similar in that regard.

It wouldn't make sense for SE to save the expansion reveal for the very last Fan Fest, since the NA and JP Fan Fest are in October and December.

I could see them revealing a job in NA fanfest, another job and the theme of the expansion in JP, and the name, date and any leftover info in EU.
