I say you get a server and forum all to yourself, so the rest of us don't have to deal with your drivel on a constant basis. We need servers with different rulesets. Then everyone can just choose the service they want/prefer instead of having to put up with 90% good game with 10% stupid crap.
Basically, there are too many competing interests of FF fans and MMO players that just end up ruining the game overall for everyone. So separate servers with different rulesets are needed.
I hate some of the recent changes and would like a server where I dont have to deal with some of that shit. For example, on my server Optimal Rank and Favoured Class would be on ALL gear and there would be no rare/ex (except on a few things) and there would be no Restrictions on R18 swords! And materia system wouldnt be a stupid grind and there would be none of this guaranteed HQ success crap.
And then there can be another server for all the people that want to painstakingly level their jobs alongside their classes all the way to R50 so they can finally feel complete.
And then there can be a PVP server for people who aren't carebears.
And everyone will live happily after.
It's a bit presumptuous to make MMOs around a one-size-fits-all policy.

No they won't, even if they did your idea down to every little point people would still whine and complain. This has been proven time and time again on this forum. Players ask for something, SE does it, players whine and cry because it is 100% exactly what they thought it would be. There is no way that anything SE does or anything ANYONE does will make everyone live happily ever after...
Personally I think your idea is silly and a waste of SE's time that they could use to continue to make this game better, and not waste time on nit picky players.
There you go, no happily ever after with your idea.
Also how can you say this is a one size fits all MMO when SE is trying their best to make it multifaceted, pleasing both Casual, Midcore and Hardcore... it's a bit presumptuous for you to make that comment when SE is trying so hard to make this game one that any type of player would feel comfortable playing.
But then again... you don't even use your real character info, you use a dummy account. So on that hand, should I even take anything you say seriously? If people aren't willing to put their name on the line for their beliefs, then what is the point in trying to change anything?
I'm just a bun boy, doing bun boy things.

It's a bit self-involved to think that SquareEnix should cater to every Tom, Dick & Harry on the planet just because they don't like the game.
I wish people here, who didn't like FFXIV, treated it how other video gamers treat games they don't like.
Don't.... Play... The... Damn... Game.
I wish people here didnt ruin FFXIV by ruining the Optimal Rank system etc... maybe you should have taken your own advice, with all due respect. It's a bit self-involved to think that SquareEnix should cater to every Tom, Dick & Harry on the planet just because they don't like the game.

I guess there's a valid point that it might take the devs a long time to balance content around rulesets. However, combat is really the only thing which requires a lot of balance. There are certain things like Gear system and the extent of grind which I honestly don't see taking too much effort to rebalance. It honestly can't be that hard.
Nobody's asking SE to create a unified field theory or anything. All I ask for is a few different rulesets. It's really not asking for much, lol.
No offence but changing EXP rate/EXP cap isnt hard. It's just changing a freaking number. Use your brain.
Again, they already had a working Optimal Rank/Favoured System, so they already have the code for that. Honestly, you underestimate the human mind if you think it would be hard to keep a minimum of two alternate servers up with these two different rulesets.

Everything affects overall balance. SE has always handled balance overall in a very particular way. You're asking a rightie to start writing with his left hand.
Or trying to turn a gay guy straight.
Pick an analogy, I don't care.
Follow Belial's advice. Please. Seriously.

Why? I'm the one over here enjoying things.
Coincidentally, I'm also a fortune teller.

Your future looks bleak.

Not good at all.
*flips card*
Aww... looks like SE's gonna ignore your idea.

Personally, I'm a bit tired of hearing the "options! options! options!" chant. I admit that there are times when it's good to have options, such as whether or not to display one's helmet, or whether to play solo or in a group on any given day. But I feel that some people are taking options to a negative extreme, calling for it when it makes absolutely no sense. The OP is perhaps the best example of this, but certainly not the only example.
