To all the bean counters and elitists wanting these stat changes:

Prove to me that you are less likely to exclude people from fights in XIV than you were in XI.

Prove to me that "lol[job]" is not in your vocabulary.

Prove to me the elitist forum you frequent will not resurrect the "Wall of Shame" you used to exclude people in XI.

    and finally,

Prove to me you are mature enough to let people customize their character THEIR way and not just how the Excel jockeys determine.

I'm actually fairly against making new types of gear/stats/abilities attached to equipment.
As a player of XI, I remember how it was back then. The negativity, selectivity, and elitism caused from it was ridiculous. You had to have very specific gear for folks to want to team up with you and if you were casual you were left in the dust.
Not to mention the superior time/gil sink to get some of that gear.

Furthermore, during the live letter at E3, Yoshi-P also stated they have ZERO plans for this for those very reasons. Itemization would actually take a turn for the worse. Everyone would just want a few select pieces of gear and all the other equipment designed would become pointless.

Now, I will put my vote in for something more akin to reduced gating on tomes/weekly lockouts. The gear is fine the way it is though. Just would like more chances to gear up more jobs per week. So, perhaps 1 item weekly per job for raid contents such as Alex Normal/Savage and 24-man dungeons?
I also wouldnt mind a removal of the tome cap. But I'd be happy with atleast the 1 item weekly lockout so long as it was per job.

This is actually very easy to do. I use Duty Finder for things. There. Completely proven. The quality of players in Duty Finder is incredibly low in most cases, but I still use it for content and very rarely call people out on their poor performance, and when I do that I tend to offer positive suggestions rather than just "lolkick". As long as it's balanced properly so that there's not a gigantic difference between options (meaning picking the wrong thing would have people playing even worse on average than they currently do) then what you suggest will not actually happen.

Being a detriment to your group was a very real thing in XI and due to the content itself the players had to adjust their habits to that. XIV isn't like that though. And not only that, but it doesn't have to be on the level that XI had it anyway, it could be something a lot more subtle that would not have the potential for nearly as many problems.

I think something like talent trees might work better. Spec how you'd like, nobody can see what you choose to exclude you/be a jerk, and they'd be WAY easier to balance than full sets of gear.

    Just my two cents.

People would just do what they do now... and come up with the best skill tree and then expect everyone to follow suit, much like what you see with our "rotations" now.

Nobody would be able to see what you chose, though? Granted, I say this from the perspective of a healer, where talent trees are more of a preference in other games, but still. Just offering a possible compromise to "whole hog or nothing at all".

No one can see what cross class abilities we have on either, but its expected that we have and use many of them.
Such as Swiftcast/Raging Strikes for mages or Raging Strikes/Internal Release/etc for DPS.

A talent tree would just organize them in a different way, but people would still gripe if you dont pull the same numbers and then start griping at you to change your specs.
Not saying its a bad idea. More that it really wouldnt change anything we dont already see with rotations and cross/class stuff.

I don't want a change on a base formula. I like a lot how is it now. But, I want some minor changes if they are appropiated of course.

I think they'd be much easier to balance, so actual nominal variances could possibly be small enough that no one bothers to comment. I can get the argument of, "if the difference is that small, why even bother?", but I think rejecting change for fear of the "elitist" community (whîch frankly pales compared to every other game I've played) is a bit restrictive.

How would you balance talent trees for tanks? Its tank, tankier, and tankiest? or tank tank, tank dps, tank healer?

how would you do df if you got tank dps, instead of tank tank. unless its actually varying, talent trees are pointless.
