However, it seems like there's a very limited niche for the buffer+DPS type, who will always be DPS foremost and buffer second, with so many other DPS prospects, whereas there's always a need for healers and it would do good for the role to have something with a wildly different playstyle and aesthetic from existing ones.

    I've seen your ideas and now I'm curious. Everyone suggests the job but few people mention the main hand.
    Other than SMR being the obvious katana main hand job, what you guys think the other suggestions should use?

    I've seen Blue Mages on the fanchise using guns, whips, spears and swords.
    For Red Mages, I've seen rapiers and a combo of mace + shield being more common.

    The dancer on the other hand I don't know what exactly could use, because it would depend on the role.
    A DPS dancer could work with chakrams or something like that, but I don't think the same formula would work for a healer dancer.

    Geomancers I've only seen using axes or bells.

    And the chemist I also have no idea of what main hand could be used.

    When I say that I'm also thinking about effects, since aesthetics have a huge importance in this game. That's why barehanded dancer, as an example, is out of question.

    Blue Mage: Curved swords, if it keeps the same look as FFXI. Scimitars, Dao, Falcatas, Khopesh, along those lines. Could pair them similar to Ninja to set them apart from similar-looking gear Paladins use.
    Red Mage: Fencing sword (rapier, epee, foil, etc.) + shield, favoring the small shields currently usable (yet practically ignored at endgame now) by BLM and WHM that have INT/MND, since they're a spellcasting class.
    Geomancer: Bells work just fine here. Could be the centerpiece of sound design for Geomancer spells.
    Dancer: Either fans or some sort of cloth or ribbony thing, could make for some nice animations. Alternatively, an instrument, like small drums, tabourines, or castanets. They wouldn't necessarily wield them as weapons but keep them on hand, like the MCH aetheroconverter. Physical strikes would still be with fists/feet.
    Chemist: Could perhaps be another gun-type weapon, but fitted with vials, needles, etc. for the firing of mixtures. Maybe make these things truly immense, shoulder-mounted pieces of equipment to distinguish them from Machinists. See: Sharla in Xenoblade Chronicles (or alchemist in FFX-2, for that matter)
    Beastmaster: Not axes; let's go with flails or whips. Flails especially, like ball-and-chain type, aren't something you see in many games, for whatever reason, and I think it'd create a unique look and really give the animators something to have fun with.

    I expect Dancer as healer or tank, Samurai as dps and Red Mage as healer or tank. I would also like red mage to be dual wielding rapier type weapons if tank.

    Geomancer (GEO) is technically completley obsolete now though, given their traditional gimmick is using elemental powers to generate spells based on the surrounding environment. Story wise this is already what the CNJ class does (borrow elemental power from the environment), and gameplay wise, it's useless - remember the elemental wheel in this game is virtually deliberately neutered in order to prevent class favouritism in battles - elemental affinity of spells does exist, it's just so low as to have virtually no bearing on damage dealt at all.

    Also although old style original 1.0 CNJ was more closer to GEO than the current incarnation of CNJ is (in the release version of CNJ in FFXIV 1.0, CNJ had native access to all elemental spells, including Fire, Ice and Lightning, only to eventually lose these when the classes were redesigned in order to incorporate a better fit for the introduction of Jobs, and they were given to THM), story wise they are still mages who channel elemental powers - limited to water, wind and air - from the land and then mould that elemental power into spells - very much the same as GEO's traditional concept.

    So either way, GEO as it stands will never be added to the game I'm sorry to say.

    Why do people always incorrectly cite this? That isn't what he said at all. He said that releasing 3 new jobs AFTER doing NIN mid-expansion was the problem, so we wouldn't be getting jobs outside of expansions anymore. We can still likely expect 3 jobs for 4.0.

    That said, I don't know why everyone is talking about Dancer. It hasn't been hinted at even once. The 2015 rising event blatantly screamed RDM and SAM are next, and two arguing NPCs in the back of the room were arguing over "what comes after White and Black?" One insists Red, the other votes Blue. Given that these are all colors of mages, and that we currently have WHM and BLM it's safe to assume that this is another hint, and that BLU is also on deck.

    Well as u have fought in amdapor hard, the 2ND boss uses a debuff to increase the elemtal damage greatly.

    I don't see, why a geomancer using elemental magic won't get himself a buff or debuff opponents for elemental vulnerability. The icons for that exist already.

    Also we still don't really have water based magic and there are some more ways to find a magic working e.g. a dot that starts weak but gets stronger over time.

    With red mage fencers there should also come Viera, since rabanastre has them.

    I would agree with that Rune Fencer, as i want a Fencer class in the game^^ But with Rapiers, not hammers^^
