honestly this doesn't seem thaaat bad, though it's not necessary at all. the thing i find funny though is the argument "people will get to max level with no idea how to play!"
have you been in dutyfinder lately? no one knows how to play!

Slightly off topic, but picking up on the above.
In earlier days of playing mmos, and early WoW was my go-to game, some people struggled with their class. But it wasn't viewed as an opportunity to criticize them.
Instead guilds had class mentors who would hold discussions with the relevant players, advising and mentoring.
We would hold raid runs over and over, purely for the purpose of helping newer players (or simply experienced players who where on a new class).
People have got into the habit of using WoW as some kind of target. But the community at the time I played was truly excellent.
And I've used the critical word - Community. We helped each other, new players, often strangers we saw struggling a bit.
But now?
People struggling are viewed as an opportunity to ridicule. 'Must have done this/that etc' before a person gets a chance of an invitation to a group. How's that supposed to work if no one helps them?
We say no one knows how to play a class - yet how many fc's now take a lot of time out to help learning players?
Very few from my experience. The norm nowadays is a few people in the fc running their own group. Private invitations to groups, that are never announced in the wider fc chat.
Sure there are people who will struggle no matter what - but there are plenty others who would improve significantly if others would take the time to really sit down and help them.
People underestimated what a real supportive playing Community could do - and have drifted into this - 'our group for ourselves, and target others' - mindset.

To be honest, I would make this potion only for those who bought SB addon and registered it as. If they did not, I would let them do the whole MSQ through ARR and HW.
I understand people who dont have time to play and getting hold by stupid quests like "can you get us 5 herbs, while Garuda has been summoned and she will eat us". I would say, this potion thing should only skip quests which are totally nonsense, not important for story understanding and such. I would leave the quests which require to beat Garuda, Ifrit, the Garlear, the Ascians etc. It might be time and money consuming to pick out all the /important/ quests, but hey nobody would miss anything important through their "Warrior of Light" life.
Giving them Gil is in a way ofcourse P2W, they get instant money for doing nothing. But I would say it should only cover things like teleportation, being able to buy food and pots if necessary and some small things, minions idk whatelse.
If they happen to jump immediatly to lv60 with their job, I would force them to get into that "intermediate hall" what yoshida was reconsidering again. I would let them know how to use certain skills - even if in SB some skills get might change, yet basic combos stay.
you're not wrong, but i feel that it's unfair to solely blame veterans for it. people need to be willing to seek out help, you don't just go "hey i've noticed you're an x class, let me help you with that" because it's patronising. a lot of terrible players i've met are also very defensive and stand-offish when anything goes wrong (especially when it's their fault).
i've put a lot of time into teaching the people i know how to play classes and i've been taught by my friends too, but some people wont allow themselves to be taught
Not really the "they don't know how to play there class" that bothers me, it's more the "legal" Real Money Trading Se does by giving them gils when buying a potion...
Plus, first it was recolored, then it was exclusive contente, then it will be xp potions....how long before gears and materia are add in the CS for people willing to pay instead of play ? I'm afraid this game is slowly taking a F2P road :/
I totally agree with that
People don't know how to take criticism anymore, and bad play is rewarded with with a coddling mentality. Yes, this is a casual game for the most part - that doesn't mean people need to walk on eggshells in fear of getting reported for pointing out things. This whole 'please don't say anything even slightly negative' mentality that we seem to be going towards and the devs seemingly pushing towards it is creating a disturbing trend.
Please stop using chinese gaming style as an excuse. The chinese play games to literally not play them:
There is this mobile game (that as I understand has been adapted from a PC game), in which once you join a party, you just leave your phone alone and go do your RL stuff, because the party leader will take care of everything. In other words, your character cast its skills, kill things that the leader engages, follows the leader to wherever they go, teleports with the leader... etc. It doesn't even matter if is the tank or healer, it will do everything automatically.
I'm not lying, the game plays itself. So what is the player's involvement ?? Just gearing up the character and selecting it's skills. Unless you are the party leader, then you start the quests (that I would compare to levequests and thus levesharing), then click on a button so your character walks to the quest location (while the other player's characters auto follow you), and finally kill all the things... which is just a mess of flashy special effects and waves after waves of monsters mindlessly coming at you from all directions, while all the characters just auto spam their skills till everything is dead.
That is what a chinese MMO is like.

Since what i wanted to post is to big i leave this suggestion to yoshi-p, stop with this amazing story you having been making with voiced cutscenes and make a few story quests like 16 per expansion and leave the rest of the content has it is, so people wont need a jump potion to catch up, because the excuse of we don't have the resources to make something better or something different, wont work anymore with the implementation of this jump potion, if you waste resources on something like this and not implement things we have been asking for since 2.0 that excuse is just one big lie your giving us.
Sorry but... how IS THIS not pay to win?
The moment ANYTHING like this goes live in the JP/NA/EU version, I will not only cancel my subscription, but will go out of my way to make everyone remotely interested to skip on this game, and hopefully boycott the whole company.
I guess because the term P2W comes from when players can buy stuff which gives them an advantage over players that don't.
Paying to get a max lvl character doesn't give you any more advantage over someone who didn't pay to get there.
If anything it's Pay4Time, since you pay extra to skip content, saving you time to do it.
Once max lvl you still have to grind like everyone else.
Unless the jump potion gives you gear that someone who didn't pay can't get.
