    It's Probably Pirates

I'm obviously a newcomer to A Realm Reborn, so I'll cut to the chase:

I'm playing the trial version right now, and I'm already loving the game, but I'm currently stuck on the Main Quest "It's Probably Pirates" in Lima Lim. The problem is, I need to form a party to go in the specific area, which is impossible to do since on the trial version of the game I can't invite others to join me, and I need to wait at said location for people to come, while having the Duty Finder on. After it finds a party centric quest, and me and my temporary party members finish it, it spits me back out of the entrance, and I have to repeat the same things, because it's not the right dungeon.

So, it begs the questions in relation to the quest: How do I get the correct dungeon so I can't finish it? Please reply with something helpful, please and thank you.

When you go into Duty Finder, are you selecting the Duty Roulette? If so, this would explain getting the wrong dungeon. What you want to do is tab over to "Dungeons", and select only "Sastasha" as the dungeon you would like to queue for. This will pair people also looking for Sastasha, and well as those in Duty Roulette that are willing to do any leveling dungeon, with you, and you will only end up doing that one dungeon.

Hopefully this helps, and glad to hear you are enjoying the game!

Yeah, im guessing you're accidently ending up in a guildhest rather then Sastasha. Dunpeal has it right, open the duty finder(U key if you play on pc), find the dungeon tab at the top, and manually select "Sastasha", then hit join at the bottem. You dont need to pre-form a group, it will match you with other players from your server/data center who want to run the same dungeon(or in some cases, people willing to run any dungeon for exp). You also dont need to stand right infront of the dungeon, you can use the duty finder to join from anywhere in the world as long as you unlock it first.

Continue enjoying the game! And hey, you play on my server apparently, so if you have any questions and see me in game im happy to help.

Okay, that makes sense. I'm not selection Sastasha and hitting Duty Roulette. That's kind of dumb, though, putting a mechanic like that into the game. I didn't even know how it worked because I thrusted into a dungeon and the popups came thereafter. Anyway, thanks for the helpful advice. I appreciate it.

Anyway, if there's anyone interested in helping me complete the quest, I'll be waiting at the entrances to Sastasha.

It's not. Most people don't choose which dungeon they want to go, they simply want to do any dungeon, the reasons being:
    • The queue is a lot faster
    • Your XP will be scalated to your level and you will level the same way even if the dungeon is low level, thanks to the sync function
    • It makes veteran players play with new players
    • Players gain bonus currencies by doing this mode, and also a bonus daily for it, principally near end game
    • Also a lot of other bonuses, so it's definitely not dumb at all.

The only people that choose what dungeon they want to go being:
    • New players doing quests
    • People helping new players
    • People that want to play a specific dungeon because they like it, even it giving less things (rare)
This is the minority of players.

Yeah, as you progress through the story you'll unlock a lot more dungeons. Once you have a couple open a new duty roulette will appear on your list, the "Leveling Roulette"(several more open up at levels 50 and 60 if you do the quests for them but the leveling one is automatic). This will randomly put you into any dungeon or story-line trial you've already completed, and once per day give you a big boost of bonus exp for completing it. This can be close to a level per day worth of bonuses, so a lot of people run it to level faster and/or work on secondary classes.

Also, Huskell missed a couple reasons people would pick specific dungeons. If youve already done your daily bonus run you might purposefully que for just your highest available level dungeons to get more exp(a bigger deal the higher your level is). Also, some people find themselves running specific dungeons trying to get gear they want(either for upgrades or to make a specific look).

Personally I agree it is completely stupid for the game to show roulettes for brand new players, especially those on a trial account and especially at that point in the game. As a new player, you never need to grind dungeons or anything like that to progress in this game. All the EXP is provided from the quests, doing all the dungeons once (where all but 2 are part of the story anyway), and doing a few FATEs here and there as you come across them. Roulettes are really for levelling alt classes or characters.

I don't blame you for getting confused. In the future, if you click on the flashy dungeon entrance it'll open your Duty Finder window directly to that dungeon to easily select it.

Don't beat yourself up over it. We all have our first time learning how mechanics work. If your fresh to MMOs, it's a pretty big learning curve. Something like selecting Duty Finder to queue for a dungeon you need sounds simple enough, but it's just as easily confused with Duty Roulette when starting out. *note I did the same thing

Also, you don't have to wait outside the dungeon. You can queue up, and then proceed with your normal activities while you wait. Once the selected requirements are fulfilled, you will be prompted to enter the instance.
