A Request For Plate Armor Glamour

In a recent interview at E3 ( http://gamerescape.com/2016/06/17/e3...naoki-yoshida/ ). There was this stated "Yoshida: In terms of being able to glamour job specific gear that’s not for your job… I don’t have any intentions of doing that. I don’t want a black mage in full plate armor casting spells. There are some MMOs that allow tanks for example to use robes, but if you’re a mage or caster you can’t wear full plate armor. If we were to do that in FFXIV people would complain. I don’t want to lift that restriction just yet."

Now, I personally would love having some bulky looking plate armor (Especially some that looked super bulky armor and not a sheet of metal a millimeter away from my character's body or cupping her breasts) and I don't get the reasoning behind not having any full metal armor for casters/healers. Especially not when when there's even just base armor for tanks that has zero metal on it period (The Holy Rainbow Shirt of Fending for example, a good chunk of crafting gear, and a plethora of glamour options that range from casual clothes to maid outfits to wedding dresses to literally bikinis and other swimwear. On the contrary, anything resembling armor for casters/healers seems limited to the rarer and harder to obtain or just lacking in that plate armor feel outside of some metal. Our options seeming to be limited to some a veteran reward (The Rank 11 Wild Rose Set which takes 840 days to achieve), some sets like the Midan set (Which is fairly skin tight for metal armor) and the Daystar set (Which is a cloth robe with metal hems, pauldrons, and random metal bits slapped on), and maybe stuff like the Gnath set (Which takes a bit to get and its made out of bug people chitin and not metal).

So the request is simple, just some add some big bulky plate armor for glamour options, preferable some that don't show off my character's breasts like the hellfire coat of fending, something like the Heavy Wolfram Cuirass, the Wootz Cuirass, or even the Adamantite armor of Fending would be so great imho. Even a new set would be great as long as it was all class, bulky, and relatively easy to get.

The reasoning is indeed extremely annoying since pretty much any class except casters can look like a tank now. Its perfectly okay for a tank to look like a mage but its a sin for a mage to look like a tank and then theres all the silly glamours that make his choice even more unreasonable. But eh, what can you do?

Getting some good old classic plate knights armor for glamour would be pretty slick though as it would be nice to give earth a visit once in a while.

Heavy Wolfram is about as big bulky full plate as it gets? I suppose more like it would be nice, yes.

Except Machinist, Bard, Ninja, and Monk don't really have options for heavy armor either. I could go on and cite the idea that heavy armor wouldn't be conducive to the range of motion or mechanics related to the class and that plausibly Ina sense they may lack the particular Constitution to make heavy armor practical in combat as they require greater mobility but it's not about being sensible, it's about you wanting to look a certain way. The idea of allowing cross class glamour also has PvP implications due to visual indicators where small text is not plainly readable, IE "SMN" wearing the Paladin Valor set or even certain Tanks swapping specific sets but that's more or less a different argument entirely. That aside, Lore reasons probably.

The problem is, Gary Gygax's spirit lingers among even FFXIV with the 'no heavy plate armour on mages that would otherwise interfere with their ability to concentrate' and 'healers forbidden to wield edged weaponry that might draw blood' concepts from DnD remaining very much in effect here (hell, they were in FFXI too and specifically stated as such in the game's manual).

So sadly I don't see SE changing this at all.

And some how glamoured on bikinis or open chested cloth armor don't hinder defense so the idea that, nor do they really factor into anything like "concentration" when we can run around nude in the snow just fine. Heck Yagrush looks like it'd do just find drawing blood and that's for WHM, heck we even wear plenty of stuff that's either from or tainted with voidsent. And again, when you can have your entire team in bikinis or whatever else that amounts to maid outfits or casual clothes, the idea of it interfering with PVP or Lore is just silly.

I thought PvP disabled glamours. Am I wrong?

It is a stupid reason. And im coming from the other direction. As a DRK that generally eschews bulky plate armor in their glamour, I would love to be able to include some of the caster only pieces, but cannot do that because of obscure reasons that do not reflect facts on the ground.

The reason is most definitely silly.

You can have an entire 24 man raid with every job represented in entirely uniform glamours (sans weapon). What was that about confusing players again?
